Position Summary:
The Landscape Foreman in Training is a hands-on role designed to support daily grounds management operations while preparing the individual to step into a leadership role. This position works closely with the Foreman to learn the responsibilities of managing a landscape crew and may be required to lead the team in the Foreman’s absence.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Foreman with training and overseeing crew members in performing landscape grounds management services.

Participate in landscape maintenance tasks including digging, planting, raking, watering, mulching, and general clean-up.

Load and unload materials and equipment from trucks safely and efficiently.

Collect and secure company tools and equipment at the end of each workday.

Operate a variety of landscape equipment safely and effectively, including:
-
Mowers (push, walk-behind, and riding)
-
Tillers, aerators, slit seeders, and wheel tractors (as needed)
-
Edgers, string trimmers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers
-
Backpack sprayers and blowers
-
Hand tools (shovels, rakes, pruners, etc.)

Leadership Responsibilities (As Directed or During Foreman Absences):

Coordinate daily planning, equipment staging, and material collection for assigned tasks.

Conduct or participate in safety and general crew meetings.

Prepare and submit timesheets and daily operational paperwork.

Operate company vehicles (with or without trailers) to transport crew and materials to job sites.

Serve as the on-site point of contact for client and subcontractor communication.

Monitor and adjust irrigation systems, including timer settings and basic maintenance (e.g., replacing heads).

Provide support to other divisions such as maintenance or floriculture as needed.

Participate in snow removal operations during the winter season, when required.
Qualifications:

Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.

Ability to operate landscape maintenance equipment and perform physical labor in outdoor conditions.

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred.

Demonstrated leadership potential and effective communication skills.

Commitment to safety protocols and company procedures.
Work Environment:
This role requires outdoor work in various weather conditions and the physical ability to lift heavy materials, operate equipment, and perform repetitive tasks.
Pay Rate Starting at $16 per hour, Based on Experience
Required Skills
Required Skills and Qualifications:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a routine basis

Ability to bend and stoop continuously throughout the workday

Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Ability to work around bees, poison ivy, pollen, thorns, and other environmental risks

Must wear work boots and Bland Landscaping uniforms, presenting yourself in a clean, professional, and polite manner

Must adhere to all company safety practices when handling chemicals and equipment
-
Must wear company-issued eye and ear protection as required
-
Must have strong communication skills and the ability to motivate and lead others

Must be willing to obtain a North Carolina Pesticide Applicator’s License

Valid NC driver’s license and a good driving record preferred

Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Must comply with all Bland Landscaping Company policies and procedures.
