Bienvivir All-Inclusive Senior Health (“Bienvivir”) is a community-based, patient-centered, comprehensive health care delivery system that advocates and promotes quality of life, optimum independence, dignity, and choices in a nurturing environment for frail seniors. Since 1987, Bienvivir has served the frail seniors of El Paso, Texas through the provision of the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (“PACE”).

PACE is a unique managed care benefit for frail seniors (referred to as participants) age 55 and older who are certified by the state as needing nursing home level care and who reside in a PACE service area. PACE programs coordinate and provide comprehensive medical and support services so that participants can remain independent and stay in their homes for as long as safely possible.

Bienvivir is currently accepting applications for the following position:

 

TRANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR

Under the direction of the Transportation Fleet Manager, the Transportation Supervisor is responsible for direct supervision of all drivers assigned to the Center and daily oversight of all transportation activities. Participates as a member of the Interdisciplinary team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides leadership and direction through supervision of all drivers assigned to the Center. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring and firing employees, conducting performance evaluations, initiating disciplinary actions, and providing training and guidance.
2. Evaluates drivers’ skills and ensures drivers meet all competency requirements. 
3. In collaboration with the dispatchers, plans and coordinates all transportation scheduling activities related to Participants.
4. Problem solves transportation scheduling conflicts, short-notice additions/changes to the schedule, notifies appropriate staff of issues, and provides possible solutions to meet Participant needs.
5. Performs daily verification for all vehicles to ensure times and odometer readings are within appropriate ranges
6. Collaborates with discharge planners to ensure safe transportation is needed at the time of hospital discharge.
7. Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT). Represents transportation staff at interdisciplinary team meetings and care plan meetings, bringing forward any Participants’ needs or safety concerns to the team, as well as communicating any necessary Participant updates discussed by the IDT to the drivers.
8. Attend meetings and take part in the approval of services, care planning, and communicate changes in participant condition to IDT team members.
9. Meets with Participants to identify individual Participant needs (ambulatory status, assistive devices, oxygen needs, and cognitive impairments, etc.) to ensure safe transportation and ensure information is communicated to drivers.
10. Responsible for the coordination of transportation services and for entering necessary information into the Participant's medical record according to PACE regulations.
11. Check-in call to Participants for initials and reassessments. Properly document all communication and relevant information regarding participants’ transportation needs and interactions in the Participant's medical record.
12. Maintain close communication with Participants and their families/caregivers.
13. Coordinates with Participants, family, caregivers, and contracted providers to ensure prompt service and customer satisfaction. Investigates complaints related to transportation and participates in resolving issues.
14. Reviews all logs and reports from the drivers and produces monthly reports on transportation activities at the assigned center.
15. Adheres to a preventive maintenance schedule for all the vehicles assigned to the center. Ensures each vehicle is in proper working condition to minimize downtime and disruption of transportation activities at the center. 
16. Provides training for new drivers and monthly in-service training for all drivers to complete the required number of training hours.
17. Ensures adherence with all guidelines, policies, and procedures, and applicable regulations by conducting random field inspections and monitoring daily driver performance.
18. Ensures all vehicles have up-to-date documentation (i.e., registration, inspection sticker, insurance).
19. Ensures each vehicle is working correctly to minimize downtime of transportation activities at each center. Coordinates and schedules vehicle maintenance and repairs
20. Investigates vehicle accidents, incidents, and complaints related to the drivers and reports to appropriate departments and outside agencies. 
21. Provides transportation services to program Participants to and from the PACE Center and/or medical appointments according to the assigned route/appointment schedule
22. Sort, distribute, and coordinate the delivery of medication during hours of operation, after-hours, weekends, and on Center closures.
23. Be on-call to respond to requests for transportation in the event of a medical-related emergency after hours, weekends, and on Center closures.
24. Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: 
1. High school diploma or GED
2. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age with a minimum of five (5) years of continuous driving experience.
3. Must possess a VALID Texas driver’s license (Class C).
4. Must be bilingual in English and Spanish, as required to effectively communicate with participants and families.
5. Minimum one (1) year of experience working with the frail elderly preferred. 
6. Must have and maintain current CPR certification.
7. Must meet Bienvivir/PACE driving eligibility standards, including a driving record free of serious violations. Disqualifying violations include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. More than two (2) moving violations or vehicle accidents within a one-year period.
b. Suspension or revocation of a driver’s license within the current year.
c. More than two (2) “failure to appear” incidents within a one-year period.
d. More than two (2) incidents of operating a vehicle without liability insurance within a one-year period.
e. Any incident involving driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
f. More than one (1) at-fault accident within the past three (3) years.
g. Use of false or fictitious vehicle registration, license plates, or driver’s license
h. Leaving the scene of an accident.
i. Criminal offenses involving the use of a motor vehicle, including assault or homicide.
j. Theft of a motor vehicle or related offenses.
k. Reckless driving resulting in bodily injury or death within the past five (5) years.
l. Negligent homicide
