Job Description

Ballard Spahr, a multi-practice, national law firm, is seeking a Digital Communications Manager to oversee the creation and management of digital content across platforms, including the firm website, social media, video and audio recording, and related digital collateral materials. The role involves data analysis, tracking marketing communications metrics, staying current with emerging digital marketing trends and technologies, and contributing to content development. This is a hybrid position and offers a work schedule of 3 days a week in the Philadelphia or Minneapolis office.

The ideal candidate must possess extensive experience in both paid and organic social media strategies. The person in this role is responsible for leading day-to-day activities of the firm’s social media accounts, as well as overseeing long-range and paid campaigns, and ensuring that content aligns with firm and marketing priorities. This position manages a Communications Assistant.

Website management is a key responsibility. The Manager is responsible for ensuring that website content is accurate and current through use of the website’s content management system (CMS) and strategically leveraging AI platforms. The Manager ensures that our writing adheres to the firm’s established branding guidelines, measures the effectiveness of our digital content and acts as a working member of the writing, editing, and proofreading team.

The Manager will collaborate with the design and technical teams, as well as vendors, to create multimedia elements, such as videos, audio recordings, and animations—and oversee their use on our website, in collateral materials, and social media channels.

Required Skills

The selected candidate must be detail-oriented, able to successfully manage multiple projects and daily deadlines, and have outstanding time management and organizational skills. Accuracy and problem-solving skills are essential. Good interpersonal skills, a dedication to excellent client service, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sensitivity are a must. Must be flexible to work effectively with a wide range of personalities and writing styles. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as a member of a project team is required.

Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of seven years’ of experience in digital communications/social media including experience providing strategic counsel to leadership, hands-on execution of social media platforms, and organization-wide benchmark reporting.

Experience at a professional services company or law firm preferred. Extensive knowledge of social media tools for monitoring, management, and analytics, such as Hootsuite and Sprout Social.  Exceptional writing and editing skills, attention to grammar, spelling and usage. Deep knowledge of AP and Chicago Manual style. Excellent leadership and project management skills, with the ability to analyze problems and provide effective strategies and solutions.  Experience integrating digital content across channels, including social media, websites, intranets, and digital collateral.

Resume, cover letter and salary requirements are required.
