The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training and internal pay comparison. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.


Position Type

Full-Time/Regular

Patient Services:

  • Scheduling appointments, follow-up appointments, and surgery per departmental protocol 
  • Verifying patient eligibility and benefits with patient's insurance company
  • Obtaining appropriate HMO primary care physician referrals
  • Registering patients in EPIC at the time of the appointment

Administrative:

  • Interacting with students and residents concerning patient care and meetings
  • Answering and transferring telephone calls
  • Screening phone calls: taking detailed messages or sending to voicemail
  • Confirming and delivering facsimiles
  • Pulling patients' charts for daily schedule
  • Preparing clinicians' daily schedule
  • Printing dictation
  • Filing patient information/charts
  • Maintaining patient records in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Recording and tracking archival patient records in database
  • Creating and/or verifying a record for the patient file
  • Contacting doctor's offices to gather patient information and referrals
  • Discussing and collecting fees
  • Writing receipts of patient payment and third party payments
  • Posting accurate visit charges
  • Demonstrating knowledge of medical and dental insurance policies
  • Escorting patients to seating in clinic exam rooms as necessary
  • Problem-solving and multi-tasking to handle multiple patient needs simultaneously
  • Checking availability of assistants for procedures; requests for special equipment arranged; preventing overbooking of appointments; ensuring that all financial considerations are arranged prior to appointment;

Required Skills

  • Strong organizational and planning skills required
  • Previous healthcare experience desired
