The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training and internal pay comparison. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Boston University's award-winning External Affairs division seeks a Social Media Video Producer. The individual will report to the Director of social media and is a member of the Public Relations Social Media team. The Social Media Video Producer will be responsible for creating engaging and compelling social media video content that aligns with Boston University's brand and social media strategy. The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling and a strong understanding of social media trends and best practices. The Social Media Video Producer will work closely with the Director of social media and other PR Social team members to develop and execute content that drives engagement, incorporates trends related to the University, and increases brand awareness. Furthermore, the Social Media Video Producer will work to highlight BUs strategic priorities and institutional values, including community, excellence, and inclusion. The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling, a strong understanding of social media trends and best practices, and expertise in social media communications to optimize content for maximum engagement by creating compelling narratives.


Required Skills

Typically requires a bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of experience in content creation, focusing on short-form or social media-style video content.

  • Strong storytelling skills and the ability to create compelling narratives.
  • Experience filming videos on Smartphones and professional cameras.
  • Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro.
  • Experience with social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Knowledge of social media trends and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Comfortable appearing and speaking in front of the camera.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) skills are a plus.
