Position Summary:

The Associate Director of Student Services reports to the Director and plays a pivotal role in 
leading case management and student support efforts. This position is responsible for helping 
students navigate personal challenges that may impact their academic success, well-being, and 
overall campus experience. The Associate Director oversees professional and graduate assistants, 
manages student care cases, utilizes data to develop targeted outreach and retention initiatives, 
and collaborates with campus partners to ensure a supportive and responsive environment for 
students.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Management (40%)

• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate additional staff
• Provide leadership and guidance to staff in handling student support cases effectively.

Case Management and Student Support (30%)

• Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive case management 
system to track, monitor, and analyze student care cases.
• Ensure efficient processes for addressing student concerns, maintaining accurate case 
records, and ensuring timely follow-up.
• Triage, assess, intervene, and monitor student cases to ensure appropriate support and 
resolution.
• Serve as a key member of the Student Intervention Team, managing cases discussed within 
the group and facilitating meetings in the Director’s absence.
• Administer the emergency assistance fund, ensuring an equitable review and distribution 
process.
• Provide direct support, guidance, and referrals to students facing personal challenges.
• Share responsibility with the Director for student crisis and emergency response (e.g., 
financial, housing, food).

Training, Education, and Outreach (15%)

• Educate students, faculty, and staff on the referral process for students in need of support.
• Contribute to the development of policies and procedures for addressing student care and 
outreach efforts.
• Utilize data to inform programming, outreach, and retention initiatives aligned with 
divisional and institutional strategic priorities.
• Support initiatives related to basic needs insecurity and student well-being.
Collaboration and Partnership (10%)
• Work closely with campus stakeholders to resolve student issues and facilitate timely 
support services, including crisis intervention.
• Provide consultation to faculty, staff, and students regarding student support and 
intervention strategies.

Administrative Responsibilities (5%)

• Serve on university and divisional committees as assigned.
• Represent Student Services on the Student Intervention Team and, when necessary, the 
Behavioral Intervention Team.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.


Required Skills

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred in education, student affairs, 
counseling, social work, public health, or a related field.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in education, student affairs, counseling, social work, 
public health, or a closely related setting.
• Demonstrated experience in crisis response and case management within a higher 
education or similar environment.
• Experience supervising graduate students or full-time staff.
• Proven ability to support students navigating complex personal challenges.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

• Ability to coach and advise students facing difficult circumstances.

similar situations.

This role is essential in fostering a supportive and inclusive campus environment where students can 
thrive academically and personally. The Associate Director of Student Services plays a critical 
part in ensuring student success and well-being through proactive case management, strategic 
outreach, and strong institutional partnerships. Occasional nights and weekends are required for 
this position.
