Key Responsibilities:
- Collect data in the field and lab – including beetle samples from local populations.
- Maintain beetle colonies, including rearing, feeding, cleaning housing. Maintain an accurate inventory of new egg clutches, larval emergence, and adults from various populations. Much of this work will be carried out together with members of Dr. Strickland's laboratory in the Department of Biology at Boston University
- RNA isolation and gDNA extractions
- Assistance with maintenance of database/inventory of insect colonies, specialized laboratory materials, supplies and records
- Contribute to laboratory maintenance along with other lab members
- Adherence to laboratory safety, biohazard and other guidelines
- Ability to learn new experimental techniques and assays.
Required Skills
Bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
