The Assistant Registrar for Curriculum and Classroom Management supports the Associate Registrar for Curriculum and Classroom Management and colleagues in the Enrollment and Student Affairs by actively planning, managing, and evaluating the academic classroom scheduling processes of the University and managing the assigning and scheduling of final exam spaces for the Charles River Campus.  The Assistant Registrar trains academic schedulers, supports their processed with an up-to-date website with resources, online forms, and deadlines, assists the 300+ schedulers across the campus with exception processes and special requests, and makes recommendations for policy updates.

About the Organization

The Office of the University Registrar is part of the Enrollment & Student Administration unit (ENSA). It supports the instructional and student progress endeavors of Boston University by providing quality services to students, faculty, academic and administrative departments, and the public. We supervise registration and the evaluation of transfer credit, maintain student academic records and record grades, issue transcripts, verify enrollment and graduation, issue diplomas, assign classrooms, produce the class schedule, schedule final examinations, and oversee production of the Bulletin and the Degree Advice system.

Required Skills

A cover letter is required for consideration. 

A Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years of relevant work experience are required for this position. Experience with room scheduling software in any industry is a plus.

  • Ability to compose clear documentation;
  • Familiarity with scheduling;
  • Ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and perform well under pressure;
  • Ability to maintain a high level of data entry accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail; 
  • Be a methodical business process or systems thinker and problem solver;
  • Ability to understand and analyze data; recognize anomalies and apply updates methodically;
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
  • Ability to collaboratively and resolve difficult situations diplomatically. 

Preferred Skills: 

  • An earned or in-progress Master’s Degree;
  • Supervisory experience;
  • Demonstrated success with advanced organizational, project management, and process improvement initiatives  
  • Experience working in a higher education setting;
  • Familiarity with Student Information Systems or robust relational database management skills;
  • Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience and to give effective group presentations. 

Technology:

  • Expertise in enterprise Student Information Systems (Oracle PeopleSoft or Banner);
  • Microsoft Suite including expertise with Excel or Google Sheets
  • 25Live or other room scheduling software program
