Summary Description:

Billerud is currently recruiting for a Human Resources Manager in our Quinnesec, MI mill location.  This role will be full-time onsite and provide leadership, guidance, and counsel to facility leadership on issues involving labor and employee relations, organization structure, staffing, benefits administration, HR compliance and workforce development issues.

 Key Accountabilities:

  • Visible member of the Quinnesec Mill Leadership Team promoting strong organizational health.
  • Work with mill leadership to establish culture of employee engagement, recognition, open communication, and regular interaction with all employees.
  • Lead employee development and bench strength strategies, using company training and development tools to implement such strategies.
  • Lead wage and salary administration matters at the operating level. Emphasis on salary budget and consistency of application across areas.
  • Work with mill leadership to develop and integrate change initiatives.
  • Assist mill leadership in identifying and addressing performance issues to improve inefficiencies in the workplace.

·         Ability to be a strategic leader with the ability to “connect the dots” across the mill platform, drive organizational change, ensure employee engagement and manage cross-functional projects.


Required Experience

Required Experience and Education:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline or equivalent experience

  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred

  • Understanding of NLRA, FLSA, ERISA, OSHA, EEO and other state and federal laws.
