Summary Description:

This key position is responsible for leading all sales activities related to the assigned Cartonboard segments. This position will be responsible for recruiting, maintaining, developing, and leading the sales professionals within this sales group to ensure Billerud is the preferred supplier within the market segment.  The candidate will need a strong technical understanding of the various converting/printing processes and will need to be able to effectively work with senior leaders within the customer’s management teams.  In addition, this position is the key interface for the sales group with other Billerud functions such as product development, product management, pricing, customer service, logistics, and customer technical service.

  • Achieve long term profitable growth in the assigned market segment
  • Lead employee development and bench strength strategies, using company training and development tools to implement such strategies.
  • Assign account responsibilities to ensure proper customer coverage at the best possible cost to serve
  • Provide leadership to the sales group to ensure proper pricing practices and pricing levels across the market segment
  • Manage the sales professionals to ensure continuous improvement in the following key customer metrics: volume, share, price, grade, cost to serve, profitability
  • Identify and secure new targeted prospects that are profitable business opportunities supporting the strategic growth direction of the Cartonboard Business
  • Establish and maintain confidence and credibility with customers management and technical teams, through knowledge sharing, solution exploration, and exceptional response.
  • Put Billerud in a position to present our existing products and services as well as identify potential new products and services that will bring value to the customers as well as Billerud
  • Seek and understand competitive information ( products, pricing, strengths, weaknesses) and develop recommendations to senior management for tactical decision making
  • Ensure accurate customer demand forecast
  • Ensure accurate customer price forecast
  • Ensure that Billerud is the preferred supplier to the market segment

  • The ideal candidate will have proven sales group management and leadership experience, including experience with employee development
  • The position will require an estimated 25% - 50% overnight travel and at times up to 70% overall travel
  • Candidates need to be competent with email, Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word

  • Minimum of 10+ yrs. sales and business/marketing experience preferably in the Cartonboard arena and or affiliated industries
  • Bachelors and/or Master’s Degree.
