Engineer 1, Mechanical

The Mechanical Engineer 2 provides expertise on complex mechanical engineering issues and acts as a professional resource for the team.  The individual will design and develop a variety of mechanical components and systems for aerospace products.

·        Provide mechanical design expertise to support new product development or improve existing products

·        Perform value analysis during the product design phase while optimizing product development costs

·        Provide technical support for new projects and evaluate the requirements and implications

·        Maintain project files and appropriate records of work

·        Act as a lead, providing knowledge and expertise for colleagues

·        Reduce costs and improve mechanical design and development processes using best practices and professional knowledge

·        Ensure compliance with established engineering standards and practices

·        Contribute to engineering department delivery and quality metrics

·        Evaluate product discrepancies for functional impact and participate in Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations

·        Other responsibilities as assigned

·        Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance

·        Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required.  May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary.  

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb.  May have possible exposure to dust, and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33% - 66% of the time.

Experience Level: Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience

Education Level: (Required):        Bachelor's Degree               Mechanical Engineering or similar
