Quality Inspector

Position Summary  Quality Inspector is expected to perform receiving inspection and inspection and testing of materials and parts independently with little direction, with the ability to recommend improved processes. Sets up and performs mechanical, visual, and first article inspection of moderately complex metallic and composite parts and assemblies to determine precise conformance to drawings and specifications.  Verifies compliance to acceptance test procedures. 

·       Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

          Receiving inspection of incoming materials and/or parts.

·        Mechanical, visual, and first article inspection of moderately complex metallic and composite parts and assemblies for defects of workmanship.  

·        Verify compliance to, acceptance test procedures. 

·        Must be proficient with standard inspection measuring equipment and make proper inspection setups from drawings, specifications, and inspection instructions with minimal supervision.

·        Participates in continuous process improvement activities.

·        Capable of reviewing and interpreting vendor material and process certifications for compliance.

·        Performs material inspections and testing as well as in-process and final inspection to government, customer and internal specifications.  

·        Must be able to work from moderately complex blueprints, inspection specifications and verbal or written instructions with minimal supervision.

·        Supports customer and government source inspection activities.

·        Keep inspection equipment and work stations clean and orderly utilizing 5S.

·        Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

Education Level: (Required):        High School Diploma or GED                      

Field of Study/Area of Experience:

 2-4 years of experience in quality inspection.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities List

·        Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures

·        Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings

·        Preferred experience working in an AS9100 or ISO certified organization.

·        Must be able to adequately communicate with coworkers.  Good written and verbal communication skills in English required.

·        Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

·        Prior composite material experience, is a plus.

·        Preferred FARO Arm experience.

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb.  May have possible exposure to dust, and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33% - 66% of the time.
