AUTOKINITON is seeking an experienced Fabricator to join our team at Axis Engineering in Grand Rapids. This full-time, regular position requires a skilled professional responsible for the layout, fitting, and fabrication of metal components to assemble structural forms and repair machine parts. The ideal candidate will apply extensive knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements to deliver high-quality results.

Position Overview

As a Fabricator at AUTOKINITON, you will work with heavy machinery and industrial equipment, requiring precision, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of fabrication processes. This role involves approximately 10% travel to various client sites or other company locations. A daily per diem is provided during travel periods.

Key Responsibilities

·         Weld metal parts using gas welding, brazing, and arc welding techniques

·         Perform thermal cutting, grinding, and material preparation

·         Repair cracked or damaged components and apply weld overlay

·         Utilize non-destructive testing (NDT) methods to identify defects

·         Position and set up components for fabrication and repair

·         Layout parts and assemblies according to specifications

·         Operate cranes and rigging equipment safely

·         Weld in flat, vertical, and overhead positions

·         Inspect welds and assemblies using precision measuring tools

·         Perform pre-heating and heat treatment processes as required

·         Conduct quality control inspections to ensure compliance

Qualifications

·         5–7 years of fabrication experience in an industrial environment

·         Proficiency in multiple welding processes and techniques

·         Knowledge of metallurgy and material properties

·         Experience with NDT methods and inspection procedures

·         Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

·         Experience with rigging, crane operation, and heavy equipment

·         Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

·         Physical stamina and ability to perform demanding work

·         Commitment to safety and adherence to protocols

·         Willingness to travel up to 10%
