· Wears all required safety equipment and ensures area and environment is safe
o Perform preventative maintenance as required
o Clean and organize area, keep area free of clutter and safety hazards – 6S
o Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted
o Plans the setup and operation of all types of machine shop tools, considering types of material, tolerances, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants and machine tool feeds and speeds
o Heat-treats and welds parts as required
o Determines specifications for inspection of work, using precision measuring and gaging tools, performing required inspection before, during and after machining
o Performs hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools and dies. Uses hand tools of the trade
o Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools and dies. Sets up, runs off and tests dies to produce a product to specifications, tracing die difficulties to their source and correcting same
o Tear down, repairs and reassembles tooling on the bench or in the press as required
o Assists other tool room personnel with troubleshooting skills or ideas
o Assists Press Operators with troubleshooting tooling during production runs
o High degree of precision and control in work where damage could be high and where muscular control and delicate touch are required
o High degree of attention and care required, preventing injury to self and others when operating machine tools.
o Possess good troubleshooting skills
o Able to pull and set-up tooling
o Must have valid forklift operator’s license (or be willing to be trained before starting job assignment)
o Process hourly/daily paperwork as required
o Does in-press P.M.’s as scheduled
o Other duties as required
Required Skills
· Completion of formal apprenticeship program with journeyman card or similar experience
· Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi task and prioritize
· Excellent problem solving skills such as 8D and 5 Whys
· Excellent communication skills as evidenced in colleague relations, team skills, and have the ability to interface directly with the customer to resolve issues
· Ability to work independently, self-starter with the ability to work in a fast paced environment
· Excellent attendance record
· Comply with Autokiniton's values and policies
