Job Summary

The Marketing Project Manager is a member of the Marketing team in carrying out College-wide marketing responsibilities. The Marketing Project Manager is accountable for managing all assigned projects, market conceptualization and development through execution and follow-up. This position will assist the Director of Marketing with implementation of a strategic marketing plan and brand adherence and serves as the project manager for planning, logistics, maintenance of production schedules, marketing, brand management, customer service to partners, evaluation, and implementing the established goals of the college Marketing department. This position champions the ACC Brand by assisting in developing creative, effective, and action-driven marketing materials. Recommends ideas that extend beyond brochures, fliers, swag and other currently used tools. This position also serves as the liaison between Marketing, faculty, departments, campuses, and the Foundation on marketing opportunities.

The Marketing Project Manager develops content, design, and layout for print and digital publications, along with related social media for use across multiple platforms.  This position also implements and manages projects related to ACC's visibility and reach, including print and digital media marketing, the promotion of the College, services, and programs, and the dissemination of college-wide information.

Assigns and manages tasks given to graphic designers, printers, vendors, videographers, and photographers for marketing materials. Purchases and maintains inventory of swag (coffee mugs, pens, chap stick, etc.) working within budget limitations and tracking totals for fiscal services. Sources new products and vendors as needed. Tracks all materials on order, communicates the order status, and distribute by due dates and inventory. Maintains a high level of customer service to internal and external constituents.   

Monitors department calendar, expenses, and the timely delivery of invoices. Work closely with the Director of Marketing on monthly expense reports for the purpose of budget monitoring and adjustment. In collaboration with Director, maintain project content strategy calendar. Performs demographic research about the populations ACC serves in the areas surrounding our campuses. This position will be expected to research marketing techniques used by colleges and universities that ACC could successfully adopt. Tests new marketing concepts on segments of the College service area. Be the marketing liaison for events such as community celebrations, recruiting conferences, college events, and/or program-centric gatherings. Serve as the marketing representative on various college-wide committees. Other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Four years experience in marketing and/or brand management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of software used for market project analysis (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Basecamp, Wordpress, etc.).
  • Experience managing multiple projects at once from concept to completion.
  • Effective time management, decision-making, and prioritization skills.
  • Detail oriented with a strong sense of urgency, project tracking, and follow-through.
  • A solid understanding of social media best practices, monitoring, and publishing tools.
  • Active listener with the skills to understand multiple perspectives and ability to translate information into a marketing plan.
  • Knowledge of software used for creative design (Publisher, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite – InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in appropriate field (communications, journalism, marketing, etc.) from an accredited institution or Project Management certification
  • Experience using multiple media formats in the context of marketing educational programs (print, blog, social media, etc.)
  • Demonstrated creative thinking mixed with analytical skills
  • Knowledge of educational organizational structures including auxiliary and non-instructional units
  • Proven team player who can gain consensus, clarity, and project approvals to support collaboration
  • Resourceful self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity

Physical & Cognitive Demands

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Salary Range 

Salary range for this position is $63,393 - $71,000, commensurate with education and experience. AP 3-45 provides information regarding salary placement and adjustments. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
