Bottle Prep and Shipping handling Technician

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Bottle Prep and Shipping handling Technician to join our environmental testing laboratory. This position is responsible for preparing sample collection bottles, assembling sampling kits, packing and shipping supplies, and maintaining inventory. The ideal candidate is organized, enjoys hands-on work, and takes pride in completing orders accurately and on time.

What You Will Do

• Prepare sample collection bottles and sampling kits according to client requests and approved laboratory procedures.
• Select the correct bottle types, sizes, quantities, and preservatives for the requested testing.
• Inspect bottles, caps, and seals for cleanliness, damage, and expiration dates before use.
• Handle and add preservatives according to approved procedures after completing the required training and receiving authorization.
• Assemble kits with the necessary bottles, labels, chain-of-custody forms, collection instructions, and other supplies.
• Verify completed orders for accuracy, including kit contents, delivery addresses, and requested shipping dates.
• Pack bottles and supplies securely to prevent breakage, leakage, or contamination during transport.
• Prepare shipping labels, coordinate carrier pickups, record tracking information, and communicate shipping delays or order discrepancies.
• Receive and organize incoming supplies, monitor inventory and expiration dates, rotate stock, and identify replenishment needs.
• Maintain accurate bottle preparation, inventory, and shipping records.
• Clean reusable coolers and approved reusable containers, and keep preparation, packing, and storage areas clean and organized.
• Receive and inspect supplies ordered by the laboratory, verify items and quantities against purchase orders or packing slips, and promptly distribute them to the appropriate departments. Maintain accurate receiving records and report damaged, missing, or incorrect items to the purchasing team.
• Follow laboratory safety procedures, wear required protective equipment and promptly report errors or unsafe conditions.
• Assist with other related laboratory support duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to check orders, quantities, labels, and records accurately.
• Ability to follow written instructions and established procedures.
• Basic computer skills, including data entry, email, and the ability to learn inventory and shipping systems.
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage daily priorities, meet shipping deadlines, and work effectively with laboratory staff and field personnel.
• Previous experience in laboratory support, shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, or order fulfillment is preferred.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Ability to lift, carry, and move bottles, coolers, and supply boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation, using assistance or lifting equipment when needed.
• Ability to perform duties involving standing, walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive handling of bottles and packing materials, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work safely around glass containers, chemical preservatives, and cleaning materials while following required handling procedures and using protective equipment.
