Quality Technician
Lab
Responsible for preparing documentation related to laboratory quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) and ISO certification activities. They will also be responsible for implementing quality control procedures, as well as preparing and safeguarding related records.
- Serving as a focal point for QA/QC and will be responsible for the oversight and review
of quality control data on a routine basis. - Compiling daily Statistical Quality Control (SQC) data from all test methods that require
an SQC, to ensure the laboratory is operating efficiently. - Coordinate all internal and external Proficiency Testing activities for the laboratory.
- Prepare and maintain SQC charts and Proficiency Testing summaries.
- Document and maintain accurate records for all customer quality control samples.
- Assist with continual implementation of Quality System Manual (QSM), Laboratory
Quality Manual (LQM), and other quality documentation in accordance with standard AmSpec and ISO
procedures. - Prepare for the internal, customer, and regulatory assessments according to the quality system procedure.
- Coordinate the initiation of laboratory related Corrective Action Reports (CAR) and Preventative Action Reports
(PAR), prepare assessment reports, laboratory related customer complaint reports, and assist Laboratory
Manager maintain all records for review. - Controlling the laboratory equipment and supply inventory. Coordinate the replacement or repair of faulty
equipment and supplies. Must also perform instrument calibrations and maintain verifications as per schedule. - Address all technical issues that arise from routine analysis and confer with Quality Assurance Manager and/or
Laboratory Manager on issues of less routine nature. - Provide training for laboratory analysts.
- Reports to Quality Assurance Manager.

• Must possess basic Computer, Mathematic, and Science skills
• Ability to grasp new procedures and work independently upon completion of training
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees, outside consultants, and management
• Thorough understanding of safety and training issues
Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in a laboratory with occasional trip to collect or deliver samples The employee may be
exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. AmSpec Services provides product information,
training, engineering controls, and personal protective equipment in an effort to protect employees from exposure to
potentially harmful levels of those materials. Employees are required to read product information, use available
engineering controls, follow guidelines presented during training, and be able to wear and use appropriate protective
equipment, including respiratory protective equipment, as may be required by the work environment. The noise level in
the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Requirements
Safety Sensitive position that requires pre-employment, random and annual drug and alcohol testing (including marijuana
testing). Pass a drug and alcohol test specified by AmSpec Pass an annual Pulmonary Fitness and Respirator Fit Test Pass
a physical examination by a physician designated by AmSpec Services, both before employment and at any time during
employment upon request of AmSpec Services to confirm the Surveyor’s ability to perform the essential job functions of
the position. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/carry boxes weighing up to 45lbs. Ability to work in the
presence of odors, typical of petroleum or petrochemicals, without allergic reactions or nausea when such odors are within
OSHA-designated permissible exposure limits (PELs).
