HR Technology Business Analyst (Workday HCM)
Location: Washington, DC, New York or Philadelphia
Schedule: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Mon-Fri. Additional extended hours as needed on a continual basis.

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Human Resources Technology Business Analyst in our Human Resources department, reporting directly to the Workday Manager.
The position can reside in either the Washington D.C., New York or Philadelphia office with hybrid work capabilities and will be responsible for the daily support of the firm’s various human resources systems, including performance, maintenance, information security, testing updates and improving process efficiency, HR data reporting, and HR applications support. The HR Technology Business Analyst is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s lawyers and staff, efficient and effective departmental operations, and an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. Above all, the HR Technology Business Analyst must fulfill the needs of the office in a manner which is consistent with the Firm’s Core Values.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Provide technical support for HR systems, including troubleshooting, ensuring system performance, and configuring/testing system changes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate project needs, perform business analysis, document requirements, and create detailed project plans.
- Develop project charters, technical specifications, and architecture documentation to support identified projects.
- Participate in planning, testing, and implementing biannual releases, new module deployments, and other enhancements; facilitating successful end-to-end implementations.
- Develop, maintain, and improve user procedures, guidelines, and business process documentation to support system users.
- Manage system access and security protocols, and perform regular data audits to ensure compliance and integrity.
- Analyze HR system functionality to identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements, delivering optimized solutions.
- Stay informed about current trends in HR technology and ensure systems align with statutory and regulatory requirements, including those affecting Core HCM, Benefits, Time Tracking, Absence and Payroll functions.
- Analyze and diagnose the root cause of system or project issues, providing resolution or coordinating with appropriate resources.
- Create and manage detailed checklists and timelines, ensuring all technical, operational, and business tasks are addressed.
- Ensure compliance with privacy regulations such as HIPAA and GDPR, safeguarding sensitive data.
Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in HR, computer science, or a related field.
- Minimum of at least 3 years of HR and Workday experience.
- Strong proficiency in at least two or more Workday functional areas such as Core HCM, Security, Payroll, Time Tracking, Absence, Benefits, PRISM, Reporting, Recruiting, Talent Management.
- Project Management and/or prior HRIS/Human Capital Management implementation experience preferred.
- Expertise with Microsoft office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and ability to communicate with non-technical and technical personnel.
- Requires excellent analytical skills with a demonstrated understanding of the concepts and issues unique to the management of HR data.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing priorities and deadlines in a professional manner.

The anticipated base salary range for this position in Washington, DC and New York, NY is $105,000- $125,000. The actual salary offered will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, years of relevant experience, certifications or other professional licenses held, job-related knowledge and skills, business needs, and the location from which the work will be performed. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package, which may also include a full range of health and other insurance benefits, financial and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility), a discretionary bonus, and various paid time off benefits.
