Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Lateral Partner Recruiting Coordinator in our Attorney Recruiting and Development (REC) department, reporting directly to the Senior Lateral Partner Admissions Manager.

This position will reside in the New York office with hybrid work capabilities and will be responsible for collaborating broadly internally and externally to develop successful tactics for making the initial contact with potential candidates and determining the appropriate approach for successful recruitment and will collaborate closely department leadership to ensure that the growth strategy is effectively implemented and remains in alignment with the practice group objectives, as well as consistent with the Firm’s Core Values.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Corresponding with lateral partners to coordinate interview times and dates, coordinating information for candidates and collecting feedback for review.
  • Coordinating the processing of all applications and introduction of lateral partner candidates.
  • Maintaining the applicant tracking system in a timely manner and ensuring accurate record keeping and document management.
  • Manages recruiting swag items.
  • Maintains team calendar of events and arranges periodic conference calls, monthly recruiting meetings. Handles agenda setting and record keeping.
  • Serves as the liaison with the Intapp personnel on issues relating to lateral partner questionnaires and conflicts clearance; reviews information in LPQ’s and business plans to ensure completion.
  • Manages partner candidate logs and follows up on all outstanding evaluations.
  • Manages research report process; reviews for red flags and distributes to sponsors and partner recruiting team.
  • Maintains and updates Mansfield report and keeps track of all incoming candidates whether interviewed and/or submitted.
  • Maintains and update PAC secure portal; assembles all candidate PAC packets to be distributed to PAC and Management Committee.
  • Assists with special projects as needed. 

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience of legal recruiting in a law firm environment. 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with specific deadlines and adjust to changing priorities in a professional manner.
  • Strong service orientation and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and attorneys.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure.

The anticipated base salary range for this position in New York is $72,000 to $85,000.  The actual salary offered will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, years of relevant experience, certifications or other professional licenses held, job-related knowledge and skills, business needs, and the location from which the work will be performed.  Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package, which may also include a full range of health and other insurance benefits, financial and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility), a discretionary bonus, and various paid time off benefits.  Additional information about benefits and rewards can be found here.
