Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are is currently seeking an IT System Administrator (ServiceNow) with experience using the ServiceNow platform in the Information Technology department, reporting directly to the IT Service and Process Manager.

The role can reside in the Dallas or Washington, DC office with hybrid work capabilities and will function as an experienced administrator of ServiceNow. This role will be a key member of the team responsible for maintaining the health and stability of our maturing ServiceNow application and will maintain and support the application, triage issues and analyze application performance and stability. The IT System Administrator shall have a proven experience managing a hosted or Saas environment that includes database administration in addition to having a proven experience with markup and scripting languages (e.g. HTML and JavaScript). You will code, test and install bug fixes and minor enhancements to the application. This includes ensuring functionality and usability are aligned with the organization’s priorities, enabling delivery teams to do their work effectively.

Key Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Lead work streams in ServiceNow, develop engagements, process design, technical design, defining agile stories, working with the development team to get configuration tasks completed.
  • Function as a Subject Matter Professional in ServiceNow areas and train, help, provide support to team members and end-user engagement.
  • Coordinate with end-users to facilitate requirements gathering, DevOps design, functional testing, UAT and deployment
  • Analyze requirements, design, develop & maintain software solutions in alignment with the technology strategy of the organization.
  • Participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code and other artifacts. 
  • Load, transform, and maintain data between ServiceNow and other systems
  • Build requested items and tasks using workflows to manage processes.
  • Display good knowledge of networking concepts
  • Configure and improve core and custom applications within ServiceNow.
  • Create and configure Business Rules, UI Policies, UI Actions, Client Scripts, and ACLs.
  • Create and configure Notifications, UI pages, UI Macros, Script Includes, Formatters, etc. in ServiceNow
  • Applying code and/or data fixes as needed to resolve incidents
  • Create and maintain custom and standard reports within ServiceNow
  • Support the ITSM team in growing ITIL solution areas by supporting solution design and innovation around the ServiceNow platform.

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills Abilities)

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Computer Science, or related field is preferred
  • ServiceNow Certified Systems Administrator (preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of IT experience
  • Must have 3+ years of experience as a ServiceNow administrator with a deep understanding of ServiceNow best practices
  • Strong competencies in ServiceNow platform, ITSM and ITOM related functionality (e.g. Configuration management, Discovery and Asset Management).
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and methodology (e.g. Incident, Problem, Request, and Change)
  • Capable of integrating multiple data sources and databases into one system.
  • Able to provision user access with assignment groups and access control roles.
  • Ability to setup, administer backups, data migration and transformation.
  • Proven experience with JavaScript and configuring workflows
  • Excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks
  • Ability to work independently to complete tasks
  • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and adjust to changing priorities in a professional manner

The base salary range for this position in Washington, DC is $105,000 to $140,000.  Additional information about benefits and rewards can be found here.
