Head Coach of Azusa Pacific University Flag Football program. This is a part-time position, estimated to be 12 to 20 hours per week and no more than 29 hours per week.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
Required Experience
- Two or more years successful previous coaching experience.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
- Model Azusa Pacific mission, goals, and values.
- Establish and articulate a clear and fundamentally sound Christian philosophy for the program.
- Hire and annually submit written evaluations of assistant coaches who fit the university’s mission and faith expectations while implementing a professional development program that aids their growth.
- Organize and manage the budget, equipment, and schedule of the program.
- Properly evaluate and recruit student-athletes who meet university academic and social expectations, while satisfying NCAA and conference eligibility standards.
- Establish individual and team skill development as the fundamental teaching focus for the program.
- Monitor and support student-athletes’ academic progress in consultation with director of compliance.
- Understand and adhere to NCAA and conference regulations regarding the administration of the sport.
- Abide by third-party contracts (e.g., BSN/Nike) by which the university and/or department are bound.
- Establish effective public relations to promote the sports program among staff, students and community.
- Serve the university, Alumni Relations, and Advancement in personal appearances and engagements that promote the university and its mission.
- Assist in fund-raising for the program, department, and university.
- Attend all department meetings and as directed by the athletics director.

- Evidence of a strong commitment to an evangelical Christian philosophy and lifestyle.
- Excellent knowledge of current thinking in areas of sport techniques and strategy, conditioning, fitness, leadership, and program management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and minister to student athletes.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the rules and regulations of the NCAA.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretionary skills in determining when to act independently and when to consult management prior to acting.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-starter with a positive attitude and demonstrated loyalty to the staff, program, and university.

- Ability to work under pressure, exuding a mature demeanor while multitasking in a deadline oriented environment with accuracy and consistency.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretionary skills in determining when to act independently and when to consult management prior to taking action.

Physical Demands
- Requires repetitive motions and possible sitting at computer keyboard.
- Ability to stand for extended time.
- Hearing and speaking on the telephone.
- Ability to conduct business at other offices on campus.
- Ability to bend, grasp, reach, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Visual Demands
- Reading, writing notes, and computer monitor.
Environment
- Office, indoor and outdoor athletic facilities, various weather and temperature conditions.
Technologies
- Proficient in Google Apps., Microsoft Office, web-based sport-specific, compliance, and finance programs (e.g., Hudl, Teamworks, Slate, PeopleSoft, etc.).
Compensation
- Grade 14: $20,000 to $30,000 is the annual salary for this part-time role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
