Oversees operational aspects of the Psychology Doctorate (PsyD) program. Provides administrative support to the PsyD Program Director and to the Department of Clinical Psychology.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Required Experience

  • At least five years administrative assistance experience in a business or educational setting.

Primary Duties/Essential Functions

  • Manages the PsyD admissions process from recruitment to admission and counsels incoming students as needed.
  • Engages in recruitment activities, including meeting with individuals interested in applying to the PsyD program and preparing recruitment materials.
  • Reviews all applications to the PsyD program and supports Program Director in selecting candidates for interview.
  • Coordinates interview days, including communication with Graduate Admissions, communication with candidates, facilitating interview days (i.e., room reservations, food, etc.).
  • Assists Program Director with onboarding incoming cohorts, including overseeing New Student Orientation.
  • Manages PsyD course scheduling.
  • Oversees student’s academic progress throughout the program.
  • Oversees students’ dissertation progress, facilitates editing/publication process once students successfully defend, maintains PsyD Dissertation Database.
  • Clears students for Masters degree posting and PsyD degree posting.
  • Manages academic student files / data entry, including yearly evaluations by faculty, notices of academic probation, preparation for digitizing once. students graduate, etc. and ensures compliance with APA accreditation standards.
  • Provides student advising on curricular activities such as adding/dropping courses, filing for incompletes, filing for leave of absences, etc.
  • Provides support to students and graduates in transcript requests, letters related to good standing, etc.
  • Assists in document preparation and self-study for APU and APA accreditation.
  • Performs other supportive administrative tasks as assigned by the PsyD Program Director or Department Chair.

  • Requires repetitive motions and sitting at a computer keyboard.
  • Speaking and listening on the telephone.
  • Able to conduct business at other offices on campus.
  • Able to lift, bend, grasp, reach to top of five-drawer file cabinet.
  • Able to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally.

Visual Demands

  • Computer monitoring and reading.

Environment

  • Busy, fast-paced office setting with frequent interruptions. Comfortable temperature.

Technologies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and other database software.

Compensation

  • Grade 7: $19.49 to $22.41 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package
