The Director of Academic Partnerships and Innovation will play a central role in expanding the influence, reputation, and resources of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS) and advancing the College's mission to prepare the next generation of Christian leaders. The director will focus on key initiatives that revolve around recruiting and admissions, clinical and academic partnerships, marketing/branding, college events, and fundraising/advancement, thus helping the college articulate its distinctive qualities and promote its identity.
 
While reporting to the dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, the director will collaborate with the Advancement Office, Strategic Communication and Engagement, Alumni Relations, Admissions Office, and external partners. The director must be adept at networking and building relationships and be able to clearly articulate the mission and vision of the college.
 
This position reports to the College of Nursing and Health Sciences Dean and works closely with the Associate Deans, Department Chairs, and Directors. The position is located at the Azusa Campus.
 
Required Education
  • Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and experience.
Required Experience
  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible professional experience, preferably in either recruitment/admissions, marketing/branding, and/or community engagement.
  • Five or more years of experience in a position requiring presentations to public audiences and/or extensive interpersonal interaction with clients/customers/constituencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex priorities and systems.
  • Higher education experience a plus.
  • Experience with technology, social media, and digital communication.
  • Work well with team members across multiple campuses.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
Recruiting/Admissions
  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies to meet or surpass student enrollment goals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective students and their families, providing consistent, accurate, and timely information about the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
  • Monitor, process, and manage inquiries and applications, utilizing a database to document interactions.
  • Exercise judgment in making recommendations regarding student applications.
Marketing/Branding
  • Assist with formulating college-level marketing plans and designing promotional materials.
  • Implement and evaluate marketing initiatives.
  • Manage web, social media, and print projects - planning, implementing, and evaluating projects.
Events
  • Manage and support the college events such as the Annual Research Symposium, Community Partners Breakfast, Alumni Homecoming, Pinning Ceremony, Evening of Excellence, Faculty Retreat & Kickoff, and more.
Community Engagement
  • Provide support to the dean, helping identify and maintain relationships with College alumni, potential donors among friends, alumni, and family members, and the College community partners.
  • Assist the Dean in the management of Advisory Boards for the School of Nursing and the School of Health Sciences. 
  • Oversee alumni engagement activities in collaboration with College Department Alumni relations staff. 
  • Will directly supervise the Director of Alumni and Community Partners.
Clinical and Academic Partnership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clinicians, administrators, and clinical partners' administrative staff.
  • Identify potential clinical partners, initiate contact, and develop strong working relationships with key decision-makers within healthcare organizations. 
  • Support marketing efforts to promote partnerships and reach new potential clients within the healthcare community. 
Strategic Communications
  • Write, edit, and proofread material for the College Nursing and Health Sciences such as reports, grant proposals, email correspondence, invitations, and acknowledgments, as well as copy for print and digital communications.
  • Represent the college to various public audiences (i.e. community events, donors and/or alumni groups, high schools, college fairs, and conferences) in writing and through speaking engagements.
  • Organize and direct lectures, conferences, celebrations, and donor/alumni gatherings as well as activities designed to introduce prospective students and parents to the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
International Programs
  • Responsible for organizing, managing, and facilitating international programs in collaboration with APU’s Center for Career and Community Engaged Learning. This includes but is not limited to coordinating logistics, student recruitment, travel and visa processing, cultural immersion activities, and communication with host institutions while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with international partners (universities, colleges, or other organizations). Negotiating agreements/contracts with host institutions.
  • Collaborate with the clinical placement team to ensure clinical placements and rotations are in place for incoming scholars.
  • Promote international programs and maintain accurate records of program activities.
  • Help build the budget for study away programs and manage/track the program expenditures.
Other
  • Serve as a liaison with the Advancement Office, Strategic Communication and Engagement, Alumni Relations, and the Undergraduate Admissions Office, participating in special events, strategy meetings, and training sessions.
  • Supervise and direct student interns.
  • Demonstrate a lifestyle consistent with the values and the ethos of APU and actively pursue Christ-like character in one’s life.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands
  • Stand and speak before audiences.
  • Requires repetitive motion and sitting at a computer keyboard.
  • Hearing and speaking on the telephone.
  • Ability to conduct business at other offices on campus.
  • Ability to lift, bend, grasp, reach, and lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and a California driver's license.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
  • Regular travel is required.
Visual Demands
  • Reading, computer monitor, and writing, editing, and proofreading text.
Environment
  • Pleasant office setting, comfortable temperature.
Technologies
  • Working familiarity with Google Apps., Microsoft Office products (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), the Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, and social media. Ability to learn Raiser’s Edge, the Salesforce SRM recruiting software, and the Azusa Pacific University PeopleSoft student database system.

Compensation

  • Grade 14: $73,724 to $84,783 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
