The Data Analyst, Military and Veteran Education Benefits (MVEB) is responsible for the administration and maintenance of MVEB data. They will run the certification tracking process, entering all data from various MVEB forms and ensuring that such data is presented in a way that enables school certifying officials to efficiently process data and certify students. They will make further system enhancements to that process, leveraging a strong knowledge of PeopleSoft. This data expert understands the configuration, regular use, and data of the PeopleSoft module and translates between business, data, and technical resources. The Data Analyst will collaborate with other data experts within Enrollment Services to make enhancements to all MVEB processes to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness. This is a part-time, temporary role.
Required Education
● Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
Required Experience
● One to three years of experience configuring and managing a data system for a higher education institution or similar institution.
● Experience with PeopleSoft Student Financials preferred but not required.
● Excellent knowledge of FERPA and college records and registration policies and procedures preferred.
● Experience with working in high pressure environments while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
● Experience with independent decision making
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
● Creates and runs queries, develops letter merge processes, analyzes data, and audits business processes as needed by staff.
● Participates in troubleshooting issues in processes and technical systems
● Creates enhancements to MVEB forms in Formstack to improve processes
● Enters all data accurately into the MVEB certification spreadsheets and ensures that student certifications are presented in a way that allows for efficient certification efforts.
● Runs batch processes in PeopleSoft such as batch refunding and assignment of holds.
● Fulfills essential administrative functions within the MVEB Office, assists in the development and implementation of MVEB policies and procedures, assists in overseeing and training student workers.
● Maintains certification spreadsheets for all military benefits programs APU participates in, including but not limited to Chapter 31, Chapter 33, and Military Tuition Assistance. Authorizes benefits and coordinates VA payments for veterans, eligible dependents, survivors, and reservists with all Student Financial Services departments across the university in accordance with regulatory guidelines and APU policies.
● Conducts MVEB activities in accordance with and in compliance with all rules and regulations contained in the VA School Certifying Official Handbook as well as any other guidance issued from other regulatory bodies.
● Adheres to and is knowledgeable on appropriate guidelines relating to FERPA and university policy on the release of records and information to a third party
● Manages initial veteran’s prospective and current student inquiries and information requests in all forms.
● Attends and represents APU at WAVES conference and regional VA conferences as requested.
● Other tasks and special projects as assigned by the Associate Director.

Compensation
- Grade 10: $25.94 to $29.83 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
