  • The Production Manager coordinates the majority of campus events, serving as a liaison to campus partners, overseeing graphics and other digital asset acquisition, scheduling and supervising student workers, and focusing on all small set up and assigned internal/external events.
  •  Schedules (Google Calendar invites for all chapels, events, and assisting w/athletics) and coordinates work flow for each production. Connect with the campus partners/external clients to establish a line of support for their event, including communicating expectations, leading student staff, and ensuring all technical aspects of the events unfold well. Supervise on a rotating basis all campus-wide chapels and major university events. Oversee: closed captioning, finalizing video edit, and/or assist with creating video presentations.
  •  Coordinate all video and graphics, including athletics packages, events slides, and special projects, with creative direction/partnership from the SCE Art Director, Video Production Manager, and Director of Media Production.
  • Serve as lead media production chapel liaison, planning of all chapel productions, working with Spiritual Life on the coordination of all weekly chapel productions. Serve as the site supervisor on regularly occurring chapels and attend weekly meetings Leading Media Production in the planning of all production elements of chapel.

 

 

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Media Production, Graphics Production, or the equivalent.

 

 

Required Experience

  • Three to five years of professional production experience.
  • Proven leadership experience in live events and/ or media production.
  • Proficient in the use and operations of broadcast equipment and software including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Xpression by Ross, After Effects, Pro Presenter, and PowerPoint.
  • Operating knowledge of video equipment, especially switchers, routers, monitors, and cameras.
  • Operating knowledge in editing, rendering, and graphic creation for video.
  • Working knowledge of technical aspects pertaining to live productions: Graphics, Staging, Video, Audio, and Lighting.

 

 

Primary Duties/Essential Functions

  • Coordinates with the Director of Media and the entire team of Media Production the entire life cycle of an event production.
  • During certain assigned events this position regularly will lead/direct: peers, staff, faculty, and students.
  • Responsible for the creation and design of graphics for chapel and special events, serving as graphics quality and design expert; as directed by the Video Production Manager, Director of Media Production, and in partnership with Strategic Communications and Engagement Art Director.
  • All business and communication relating to regular chapel services.
  • Serve as a site producer for weekly scheduled chapels.
  • Responsible for the creation, coordination, and design of graphics for all events.
  • Serves as the media Manager for a majority of campus events, especially all small events.
  • Oversees Student Graphic coordination providing mentoring and coaching to the students.
  • Assists in scheduling operating activities relating to regular scheduled athletic broadcasts.
  • Creates innovative presentations of the content as directed by the Video Production Manager and Director of Media Production.
  • Ability to be on site to work events on evenings and weekends as directed by the Director of Media Production.
  • Collaborating in overall direction and strategies for Media Production.
  • Train students and staff members in the creation of excellent graphics for events.
  • Research and implement emerging trends in media equipment and application to provide an exemplary brand experience through excellence in media production.
  • Stay current in the field and recommend professional development opportunities for full-time and student workers.
  • Contribute to overall internal planning sessions to ensure creative and appropriate events with direction from the Video Production Manager, Director of Media Production, and the Strategic Communications Art Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Media Production.

 

 

Skills

  • Basic knowledge of overhead safety rigging.
  • Basic knowledge of audio recording.
  • Proven ability to relate to all levels of an organization. Front line workers to leaders of the university. Ability to work under pressure and on multiple tasks.
  • Creates and designs of graphics in media and print.
  • Ability to integrate media content and quality with biblical knowledge and the university’s mission.
  • Ability to continue to learn as advances in technology grow.
  • Advanced proficiency in both Macintosh and Windows operating systems.
  • Able to commit and meet project timelines.
  • Service orientated with the ability to organize, prioritize/delegate tasks while transferring knowledge and expertise to empower clients, partnerships, and users.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

 

 

Mental Demands

  • Requires good analytical and problem-solving skills. Must have a service-oriented mind-set with the ability to organize, prioritize and delegate tasks while transferring knowledge and expertise to empower students and any customers as needed
  • Working as needed nights, evenings, and weekends.
  • Multi task projects as needed.
  • This position is required to interact with the Media Production staff on a daily basis. This is a key relationship for this position.
  • The ability to be organized and detailed, quickly evaluate the nature of the problem and to provide a solution rapidly and accurately is essential.
  • Challenges encountered may require the ability to work as part of a team to find a resolution. Solutions may involve the arranging of tasks to be done or conducting negotiations until satisfaction is provide.

Physical Demands 

  • Intermittent sitting, standing, and walking.  
  • Repetitive hand motions at computer keyboard.  Sitting and/or standing 5-6 hours per day.  Listening and speaking on the telephone.  Ability to conduct business at other offices on campus.  Able to reach, grasp, pull, bend, lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Hearing and speaking in person and on the telephone.
  • Working both in and outdoors. Including nights, evenings, weekends, and overnights.

 

 

Visual Demands

  • Computer monitor and reading, writing notes on a computer monitor.
  • Long hours standing and working in a physical environment.
  • Long hours sitting at the computer terminal.

  • Pleasant office, comfortable temperatures.
  • Multiple conversations and transactions occurring simultaneously.

 

 

Technologies

  • Proficient in Google Apps., Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.

  • Knowledge in camera and Media Production internet streaming broadcasts.
  • Knowledge in audio, lighting, video switchers, and staging.

 

 

Compensation

Grade 13: $32.97 to $37.92 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package
