Reporting to the Talent Acquisition Lead, the Talent Acquisition Coordinator will provide exceptional service to the APU community and provide key operational support to the Talent Acquisition team to aid in the execution of successful hiring and onboarding, and other aspects of the recruiting process. This individual will provide recruiting reports for the talent team and HR Business Partners. Manage the job requisition process and update job descriptions and specifications. Updates applicant tracking system and other systems; prepares and places job postings across appropriate media; coordinates background checks; and seeks to ensure a positive candidate and new hire onboarding experience, and co-facilitates New Employee Orientation. This individual will seek continuous improvement and help to develop and maximize system capabilities and enhance automation. 
 
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s degree  or equivalent work experience.
Required Experience
  • One to three years of HR recruitment or relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with CRM, HR or other relevant databases (Applicant Tracking System or Candidate Management Systems)
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of customer service, problem solving, and meeting critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in higher education, student employment and/or human resources.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively handle a broader range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those of sensitive nature is required along with the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of people.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
  • Assists with developing job descriptions for advertising and ensures consistency among job descriptions.
  • Attracts applicants by placing job advertisements on various job boards, social media platforms and specialty sites. 
  • Responsible for updating applicant tacking system, generating reports, and general data cleanup.
  • Assists with launching reference checks on final candidate(s) prior to offer.
  • Submits requests for background investigation and employment verification for final candidates of staff, faculty, adjunct faculty, and administrator-level positions.
  • Partners with Transportation Coordinator to ensure DMV checks are done on new hires for positions that require driving APU vehicles.
  • Provides assistance to ensure employees onboarding tasks are completed prior to hire.
  • Assists with New Employee Orientation, which includes preparing materials, coordination of guests attending NEO, booking room, etc.
  • Updates job knowledge by reading professional publications and e-newsletters; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. 
  • Collaborate with various department stakeholders: Human Resources, Payroll, Financial Aid, IT, divisional Budget Managers to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies.
  • Serves as backup to the Talent Acquisition team in facilitating New Employee Orientation.
  • Coordinates participation in career fairs and may attend periodically.
  • Provide support and high-quality customer service to students, faculty, staff and administrators.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable federal and state laws and university policies and procedures.
  • Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs.
  • Performs other duties as required by the supervisor.

Mental Demands

Physical Demands
  • Requires repetitive motions and sitting at computer keyboard. 
  • Requires hearing and speaking on the telephone. 
  • Able to conduct business at other offices on campus. 
  • Ability to pull, push, bend, grasp, reach and lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
Visual Demands
  • Computer monitor and reading.
Environment
  •  Pleasant office setting, comfortable temperature.
Technologies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications, spreadsheets, databases and presentation software. 
  • Working knowledge of applicant tracking systems and HRIS preferred. 
  • Familiar with professional social media platforms.

Compensation 

  • Grade 9: $23.58 to $27.12 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
