The Videographer is responsible for capturing, editing, and producing high-quality video content that aligns with the Azusa Pacific’s strategic enrollment plan and enrollment marketing objectives. This role involves utilizing videography equipment, editing software, and creative skills to create compelling visual stories that supports the university's mission, vision, and strategic enrollment goals. This role requires a highly creative, story-focused, innovative, and experienced video production professional with a track record of producing high-quality video content in a university environment. The ideal candidate will be able to balance creative vision with strategic objectives and be comfortable collaborating with stakeholders across the university. This position will play a critical role in shaping and communicating the university’s story to external audiences.
 
Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in video production, film, communications, or a related field.
 
Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
 
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
  • Storytelling and Concept Development: Collaborate with the enrollment leadership team, enrollment marketing department, and clients to develop video concepts and storyboards that effectively communicate messages and achieve campaign objectives.
  • Video Production: Plan, shoot, and edit professional-quality videos for various purposes, including marketing campaigns, social media content, event coverage, interviews, tutorials, and internal communications.
  • Filming and Directing: Conduct video shoots, ensuring appropriate lighting, framing, composition, and audio quality. Direct talent or subjects during filming to capture desired footage and performances.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including strategic communication and engagement to align video content with overall branding and marketing strategies. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, ensuring a clear understanding of project objectives and timelines.
  • Continuous Learning and Innovation: Stay up-to-date with videography trends, techniques, and emerging technologies. Continuously seek opportunities to improve video production processes, equipment, and creative approaches..
  • Video Distribution and Optimization: Ensure video content is appropriately optimized for various platforms, such as websites, social media channels, email campaigns, and other digital channels. Collaborate with the marketing team to develop strategies for effective video distribution and maximize viewership..
  • Equipment and Setup: Operate and maintain videography equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting, audio equipment, and other necessary tools. Set up and adjust equipment to achieve desired shots and audio quality..
  • Manage multiple video projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on-time and on-budget.
  • Develop and manage the video production budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.
  • Oversee the video production process, from concept development and scripting to post-production and distribution.
 
Skills
  • A portfolio of high-quality video content that demonstrates creativity, innovation, and technical expertise.
  • Proficiency in video production software, such as Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across the university.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • Knowledge of best practices in video production, including lighting, sound, and camera techniques.
  • A passion for storytelling and using video to communicate complex ideas in a clear and engaging way.

  • Knowledge of design software such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, as well as experience with web design and content management systems.
 
Compensation
  • Grade 12: $30.67 to $35.27 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
