Description
Azusa Pacific invites applications for a full-time, ten-month Information Literacy Librarian for the University Libraries, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
We seek a dynamic, experienced, and innovative leader to advance the library’s teaching, learning, and information literacy programs across a complex university system. The Information Literacy Librarian will direct strategic planning, coordination, and assessment of foundational information literacy services that support APU’s academic mission. Collaboration with faculty, librarians, and campus partners will be essential to integrate critical information and digital literacy skills into the curriculum and develop engaging learning experiences for a diverse student population.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic vision, leadership, and coordination for fundamental information literacy programs and collaborate with other librarians and faculty in areas such as General Education, Writing Programs, Writing Center, and other student support services.
- Lead information literacy initiatives by developing, teaching, assessing, and integrating information literacy skills and thresholds through various modalities to embody ACRL’s Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education.
- Foster a culture of diverse pedagogical innovation and continuous improvement in collaboration with librarians and library staff.
- Develop, manage, and advocate for policies, resources, and tools that support effective teaching and learning.
- Serve as subject liaison to designated academic departments based on expertise or institutional need, overseeing the development of relevant print and electronic resources, instruction, and research help for assigned areas.
- Create, deliver, and assess engaging instructional materials for asynchronous and hybrid learning, including tutorials, guides, videos, and LibGuides in assigned areas/programs.
- Oversee scheduling at the Darling and Marshburn reference and research help desks as well as other modalities, including email, phone, chat, and Zoom technologies, including providing research support and training in best reference and research practices.
- Collaborate with both internal and external library and higher education colleagues to anticipate emerging needs, innovations, and opportunities.
- Align library information literacy programs and assessment with institutional goals as established in the university’s strategic plan.
- Monitor the library and higher education landscape, particularly related to advances in generative artificial intelligence, and provide a strategic response to its effects on information-seeking, academic integrity, and student learning.
- Conduct research, publish, and present in areas related to information literacy, pedagogy, educational technology, or areas associated with one’s academic training.
- Participate actively in relevant library, university, and professional committees.
Level
- Assistant or Associate Professor.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited program.
- Additional graduate degree in another academic discipline.
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in an academic library focusing on teaching, instruction, or information literacy.
- Deep understanding of information literacy standards, learning theories, and pedagogical best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to design, teach, and assess effective learning experiences for diverse audiences.
- Effective leadership, staff supervision, and cross-department collaboration skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication (written and oral), presentation, and management capabilities.
- Familiarity with learning management systems, digital pedagogy, and emerging educational technologies.
- Vibrant Christian faith compatible with the APU’s mission (Faculty members are required to sign a “Statement of Faith,” available at http://www.apu.edu/about/believe and to adhere to the policies outlined in the Faculty Handbook.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading assessment projects or curricular integration initiatives.
- Graduate degree in one of the following areas: business, humanities, or social sciences.
- Evidence of scholarly activity and professional engagement.

- Ideally January 1, 2026, a later start date (July 1, 2026) may be considered.

Compensation:
- $70,304 to $125,460 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
