About the School of Nursing:

The Azusa Pacific School of Nursing encompasses a full spectrum of undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare nursing scholars for a lifetime of intellectual inquiry. With an APU nursing degree, graduates enter the healthcare field with a solid foundation in research, theory, clinical skills, and hands-on community service, setting them apart as leaders in their profession qualified to change the face of healthcare delivery. The school offers bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral degrees, and post-masters credentials.  Within each degree are personalized programs such as LVN to BSN, RN to BSN, Entry-level Master’s (ELM), Doctor of Nursing Practice, and PhD in Nursing.

 

Description:

The School of Nursing invites applications for a full-time faculty position working in the Division of Undergraduate Programs. The division includes the following departments: Traditional BSN, RN to BSN, Upper Division BSN Transfer, and Entry-Level Masters. Successful candidates will offer the following: 

      A commitment to excellence in teaching, clinical practice, and research

      Awareness of healthcare dynamics and changing nursing roles

      Active engagement in curriculum and program development

      Desire and ability to maintain an active research program

      Enthusiastic advising /mentoring of students in coursework, research, and professional practice

      Participate in program review and accreditation reporting

      Participate in faculty governance

      Maintain clinical specialization

      Generate creative ways of teaching and supporting learners

      Skilled in utilizing a variety of teaching methods

      Model a passion for learning and excellence in the classroom and clinical settings

      Assist students in achieving competence in practice

 

Specialization:

        At least one clinical specialization: Medical Surgical, Critical Care, OB/Women’s Health, Pediatric, Geriatric, or Psychiatric Mental Health.

        Preferred: Medical Surgical or Psychiatric Mental Health

 

Responsibilities:

      Support faculty work within the division and its associated programs

      Applicants will have evidence of high-quality teaching and show potential for active research.

      Integrates a Christian worldview into the disciplines of nursing and teaching

      Adheres to the expectations delineated in the University Faculty Handbook

      May be needed to work at alternative Regional Campuses or Sites.

  

Level:

      Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, or Instructor

 

Qualifications:

      A doctorate from an accredited university in Nursing or a closely related discipline is preferred. 

      A master's degree with extensive clinical experience and/or teaching experience may be considered.

      Active California Registered Nurse license or eligible to acquire

 

Experience:

      Candidates require professional expertise and experience commensurate with specific position requirements.

 

Workload: Full-time

 

Hire Date:  Open until filled.

       Ability to engage in critical thinking and exercise independent judgment.

       Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage confidential information.

       Ability to collaborate with other faculty and staff and maintain collegial relations.

       Self-starter, ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.

 

Compensation:

$70,000 to $85,500 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this faculty appointment. Actual salary may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to salary, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
