Description: 

This is a 10-month faculty position in the EdD Program in Educational Leadership in the School of Education at Azusa Pacific University. The EdD program prepares promising K-12 educators with the theoretical and practical understanding to lead amidst the changing environment of the nation's K-12 schools, with an emphasis on issues of equity for diverse populations. The EdD program is a three-year dissertation-embedded, cohort-based program taught by executive-level educators and traditional faculty.  We are seeking a creative and collaborative colleague with prior doctoral program faculty and experience to join us in this dynamic program with an 8-year record of successful outcomes.  

 

Specialization: 

We are seeking a colleague to complete our faculty team who has:

  • A robust research agenda in areas related to school leadership and/or K-12 partnerships (e.g., with communities, higher education institutions, foundations, etc.)
  • Experience providing dissertation supervision and high-quality methodology training for doctoral students in a three-year cohort-based program. 
  • Strong record of published qualitative research and knowledge/skills in software for qualitative analysis (e.g., Dedoose, NVivo).
  • Demonstrated familiarity with public K-12 education and contemporary issues.
  • Preference is for mixed-methods methodological experience, with particular expertise in qualitative research.

 

Responsibilities:  

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching qualitative research methods courses, including scholarly writing and literature-review courses, as well as K-12 focused courses, depending upon individual expertise; mentoring students; serving on dissertation committees; and maintaining a professional research agenda. In addition, all faculty are expected to engage with K-12 partners and prospective students, upon request; contribute to ongoing program improvement efforts; and participate in committee service at the program, School, and/or University level, as well as to the broader professional community. 

 

Level: Open rank, dependent upon prior University rank/status

 

Qualifications

  • A demonstrated, vibrant Christian faith compatible with the mission of Azusa Pacific University. Faculty members are required to sign a “Statement of Faith,” available at http://www.apu.edu/about/believe, and to adhere to the policies outlined in the Faculty Handbook. The University has an expectation of and provides support for faith integration across the curriculum.
  • An established record of success in serving ethnically diverse populations.
  • Earned doctorate in education or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Prior graduate teaching experience required, with doctoral teaching and dissertation committee experience preferred.
  • Expertise in qualitative and/or mixed methods preferred.
  • Prior university teaching and/or senior leadership experience at the K-12 level preferred.
  • Commitment to professional and scholarly activity as demonstrated by an active research agenda that speaks to both practitioner and academic communities.
  • Demonstration of collegial teamwork and desire to collaborate with colleagues to meet program and department needs.
  • An established record of success in serving ethnically diverse populations.

 

Experience: 

  • Prior dissertation committee service required.
  • Experience with online teaching (fully online or hybrid course models).

 

Workload:

Full-time faculty, 10-month contract.  The typical workload includes teaching, scholarly activity, service, advising, and School and/or University committee assignments.

Hire Date:  August 2024

 

Compensation:

$66,560 to $125,460 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
