Description:

 

The Bachelor of Social Work program at Azusa Pacific University seeks to prepare students for professional social work practice as demonstrated by competence in skill performance with diverse populations in a variety of settings. Emphasis is on engagement with students that integrates high expectations with high support for academic success. Training focuses on a holistic approach to professional development with a goal to prepare effective generalist social work practitioners. 

 

Announcing a nine-month faculty appointment with primary assignment in the Bachelor of Social Work program, carrying instructional responsibilities. Candidates are expected to teach across the generalist curriculum. Strong social work practice skills and experience in teaching generalist social work practice, human behavior and development preferred. The candidates are expected to share in departmental activities, including student advising, program assessment, and student admissions. As our student body is reflective of the diversity of southern California, the Department seeks to recruit faculty from diverse backgrounds, committed to excellence, a team environment, and social justice. Experience in higher education preferred. 

 

Nine month faculty position in a thriving, urban, CSWE accredited, Bachelor of Social Work program. As faculty, duties include full-time teaching responsibilities, scholarship, and service. Experience in higher education preferred, with familiarity in BSW education strongly desirable. 

 

Specialization: Strong teaching skills, social work direct practice, human rights and social justice.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Teach courses across the generalist curriculum.
  • Assist in student advising, program assessment and student admissions.
  • Participation in the life of and service to the department and greater university community.
  • Contribute to the development and dissemination of knowledge and expertise to advance the social work profession.
  • Work/teach across departments including regional campuses/sites as indicated for role.

 

Level: Clinical Faculty Appointment, rank based on education and experience.

 

Qualifications: Ph.D. preferred, Master of Social Work degree from an accredited social work program, with minimum two years post MSW practice experience required. LCSW preferred. Candidates must be able to communicate their Christian faith and how they ethically integrate faith in social work scholarship and practice. Strong commitment to BSW education desired. Prior teaching/training experience strongly preferred. Basic computer skills required.

 

ExperienceStrong teaching skills, experience in direct social work practice and research.

 

Workload:  Nine month contract, full-time.

Compensation:

 

$66,560-$110,160 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
