Position Description
Position Summary:
As a member of the Operations Engineering team, the Sr. Electrical Engineer plays a pivotal role in advancing the manufacturing and operational processes of electromechanical medical device systems. This position is responsible for leading and executing complex engineering projects, addressing critical component and assembly issues, and optimizing manufacturing processes to drive operational excellence. The ideal candidate will demonstrate extensive experience in electrical engineering, a commitment to innovation, and a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in enhancing productivity, reducing costs, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Design and Implement Solutions: Develop and oversee the design of manufacturing processes, fixtures, tools, and validation plans. Manage change orders and ensure that engineering solutions are effectively integrated into production.
• Process Improvement: Analyze and optimize current manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and increased efficiency. Implement advanced methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
• Technical Leadership: Provide expert technical support and guidance to assemblers, technicians, and contract manufacturers. Address and resolve complex manufacturing issues promptly.
• Supplier Collaboration: Work closely with suppliers to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and components and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Project Management: Lead and manage engineering projects focused on enhancing product performance, increasing capacity, and improving process capability. Utilize project management tools and techniques to ensure successful project execution.
• Production Optimization: Design and refine production layouts, workflows, and assembly lines to maximize efficiency and reduce scrap and throughput time.
• Support New Product Development Programs: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements, develop manufacturing processes, select suppliers, and ensure that products meet both customer and market expectations.
• Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all work adheres to the Quality Management System (QMS) and regulatory requirements. Develop, maintain, and review process documentation and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Training and Development: Mentor and train junior engineers and technical staff, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance team capabilities.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
Minimum
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 5-7+ years experience in electrical engineering within a manufacturing environment, particularly in the medical device industry.
• Strong expertise in Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies, including advanced tools such as FMEA, DOE, and RCA.
• Proficiency in electrical design and simulation tools (Altium preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects, work cross-functionally, and deliver results.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions for manufacturing challenges.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, critical thinking, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, with a commitment to personal and professional growth.
Preferred:
• Experience with system requirements and regulatory standards (e.g., GMP, QSR, GLP, CE, CSA, ISO).
• Proficiency in Agile / SAP or similar MRP systems.
• Experience with programming languages such as LabVIEW, Python, or related scripting languages.
• Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies and Industry 4.0 concepts.
Other:
• Occasional overnight travel, both domestic and international, may be required to support project needs and collaborate with global teams.
