Position Description

Position Summary:

The Senior Cost Analyst is responsible for all the activities of planning and control related to cost of goods sold (COGS), inventory monitoring, capital expenditure and financial analyses for supporting Operational Leaders. This is a key role to act as Finance Business Partner for the VP Operations & Service with ownership of full profit & loss (P&L) of that area.  This role will also be responsible for month-end close activities related to inventory and COGS.  The successful candidate will possess exemplary communication, priority management and multi-tasking skills and the ability to work at a high level cross-functionally including, but not limited to, working in coordination with global colleagues in Europe and Japan. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Financial Planning – Operations & Service

  • Provide all the requested analyses for an accurate annual budget and quarterly forecasts of COGS, at all needed business dimensions
  • Responsible for financial planning for all manufacturing costs
  • Drive the budget and quarterly forecasts for the Opex related to the area of Operations & Service
  • Ownership of financial planning activities for a full Service P&L
  • Planning for logistics and transportation expenses

Financial Closing & Reporting – Operations & Service

  • Responsible for all the financial analyses on the entire COGS and inventory across all needed business dimensions
  • Tracking and analysis on manufacturing costs and their variances
  • Closing, analysis and reporting for Opex related to the area of Operations & Service
  • Closing, analysis and reporting for full Service P&L
  • Closing, analysis and reporting for logistics and transportation expenses
  • Month-end journal entries and account reconciliations related to COGS & Inventory
  • Support Operations from financial analysis perspective for projects and requests

Standard Cost Calculation

Responsible for setting, maintaining, and the reporting of standard costs for all new and existing purchased and manufactured items.

  • Annual review of purchased material costs
  • Annual setting of labor and overheard rates and manufactured item standards
  • Transfer price analysis and entry

Capex Management – Operations & Service

  • Support Operations & Service during financial planning session for Capex
  • Support Operations & Service for business case preparation for investments approval as per company policy

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

Minimum

  • 4-year degree or higher in accounting
  • 2-7 years of relevant product costing and operational finance experience
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to maintain strong and effective internal and external business partner relationships
  • Multi-currency and international processes experience
  • Must have good organization skills, high level of accuracy, and be detail oriented
  • Experience with SAP, product costing module and inventory transactions
  • Strong MS Office skills are required - Excel

Preferred:

  • Statutory accounting experience
  • BW and Hyperion experience
