The School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Florida SouthWestern State College seeks a Visual Arts Professor with expertise in drawing, painting, and design. This position will be integral in supporting an expanding digital arts program in addition to training students in more traditional media. The ideal candidate will be a practicing exhibiting artist /designer who will bring diverse ideas about the fine arts for an ever-changing future.

Arts@FSW has a strong record supporting faculty research, international study, and integrating creative scholarship and professional practice in course development. FSW State College has an expansive, eager to learn student body and is home of Bob Rauschenberg Gallery in beautiful Southwest Florida. Located in one of Florida’s fastest growing areas we are looking for a candidate that can help build upon a strong foundation focused on the fine arts to teach existing art courses, expand studio art opportunities for students, and develop a creative learning environment focused on interdisciplinary teaching.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Master of Fine Arts degree in drawing, painting, design, or closely related field in the fine arts (a minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline)
  • Ability to teach drawing, painting, color theory, and/or 2D and 3D design 
  • Possess a commitment to interdisciplinary arts teaching and education
  • A professional record of studio art and exhibition
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology in creating and delivering course content
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the subject area to be taught

Salary Range: $51,207.89 – $60,762.46 (for two terms): the maximum salary is based on a doctorate education level and 10 years of verifiable full-time teaching experience. Salary will be determined at the hire date.
