Tenure-Track Professor of Law  

The School of Law at Oklahoma City University invites applications for a Tenure-Track Professor of Law beginning August 2020. This position will teach first-year and upper-level courses in the Juris Doctor program, as assigned by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and will conduct research and publish scholarly works. Tenure-track faculty are also required to serve as advisors to students, maintain regular office hours, participate in faculty governance, and participate in programs and initiatives in support of the School of Law mission.

Duties, Responsibilities, and Teaching Requirements

  • Teaching first-year and upper-level courses in the Juris Doctor program, as assigned by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
  • Meeting and otherwise communicating with students individually in connection with classes taught
  • Conducting original research and writing scholarly works
  • Participating in scholarly workshops and conferences internally and externally
  • Advising and counseling students and student organizations
  • Participating in faculty governance by committee service at the law school and university
  • Attending graduation, faculty meetings, and student and alumni events

Qualifications

An ideal candidate should exhibit a strong academic performance leading to a JD or equivalent degree and have relevant experience such as teaching, legal practice, or judicial clerkship.

Additional knowledge, skills and abilities desired:

  • Excellent academic background.
  • The inclination and ability to become an effective law teacher.
  • The inclination and ability to publish scholarship on a regular basis.
  • The ability to work with diverse students, faculty and staff
