The Organization:


IFDC is an independent non-profit organization that combines innovative research, market systems development, and strategic partnerships to spread sustainable agricultural solutions for improved soil health, food security, and livelihoods around the world.


The Role:


This internship is for the summer 2020.  The intern will serve 240 hours and receive a stipend of $1,000.  The intern provides support to the Research function as a technical writer/editor as follows:


  • Internet/social media search on research project opportunities focusing on congressional appropriations in agriculture and science, federal, state, and foundations
  • Create alerts and database in consultation with supervisor
  • Assist with writing/reporting
  • Editing technical/progress reports, etc.
  • Conducting research as needed
  • Other projects as directed 


Required Skills:


  • Prior experience in scholarly/scientific writing 
  • Strong computer research and editing skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Knowledge of proper grammar, editing, and writing techniques
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, exceptional work ethic and problem-solving mentality
  • Applicants should have high attention to detail; be able to work as part of a team, but also be able to perform tasks independently; possess exceptional oral and written communication skills


Other Requirements:


  • Preferably current undergraduate juniors or seniors with experience in technical writing, editing, and proofreading
  • Minimum GPA requirement: 2.5 overall with at least a 2.75 in communications, journalism, or English
  • Must be able to make a semester commitment of 20 hours / week (negotiable)
