Research Associate Need for RRD in Menlo Park CA. 


The Research Associate position was created for individuals who are interested in enhancing their knowledge set and working in a fast paced environment. The Research Associate's primary responsibility is to utilize centralized firm research resources/databases to provide research and administrative support for the firm’s internal Investment Banking department and other departments within the firm. The Research Associate will work on research projects and ad hoc global projects. Working alongside a group of Investment Bankers grants the Research Associate constant exposure to a ‘behind the scenes’ perspective on the investment banking industry. The position will cover Specialist, Macro-Economic Research (SMR) and be aligned to the Healthcare and Consumer/Retail sectors.


Research Responsibilities:

  • Provide value-added, consistently accurate and timely third-party research on industries and markets to support strategic financial decisions
  • Perform macroeconomic research to support the creation of pitch books and company/industry reports
  • Additional tasks include:
    • Conduct news runs on a specific industry or topic
    • Provide M&A deal related information and metrics
  • Knowledge management: utilization of tools including Microsoft SharePoint and email forums
  • Accurately record resource and time utilization metrics
  • Maintain a heightened awareness of compliance and client confidentiality obligations

Advise client business units on the cost of information in order to assist in managing research spend

     Shift: Monday- Friday 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Required Skills


  • Possess strong knowledge and understanding of secondary research sources for quantitative and qualitative industry information; within the Healthcare and Consumer/Retail sectors a plus
  • Industry research experience at a financial services, library, consulting or professional services firm
  • Ability to handle fluctuating priorities with efficiency and accuracy, including coordination with offshore deliver team supporting similar efforts
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to provide fluidity across working relationships
  • Ability to work effectively with regional and global partners/alliances to deliver comprehensive client solutions
  • Strong work ethic, proactive, enthusiastic attitude, and eager team contributor
  • Flexible approach to duties and hours of work
  • Technology literate (e.g. MS Office Suite)



Required Experience


  • 1-2 years of experience in an information management or sector research role
  • Awareness of and adept use of public information and proficiency with multiple proprietary third-party tools and databases
  • Undergraduate degree in Library Sciences, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics. MBA, MLS, or CFA (any Level) a plus
  • Working with financial services and related organizations including brokerage firms, third party research outfits, investment banks, private equity firms, corporate finance firms, etc.
  • Understanding of financial statements, analyst transcripts and corporate earnings guidance
