Head Start Assistant Teacher
The Head Start Assistant Teacher is responsible for the care, supervision, and safety of center children. Assists staff in planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum. Responsible for keeping classroom and playground clean, safe, and orderly. Must have compassion and understanding of needs of children and families from economically and culturally diverse backgrounds. Must learn, implement, and follow all program policies and procedures. Encourage self-esteem and independence for the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of each child. Ensure that health, safety and nutritional education is integrated into the overall curriculum planning. Responsible for the program operations in the absence of the Head Teacher.
Pay rates are as follows:
- $11.50 with the minimum qualifications (CDA and 12 ECE credits)
- $12.50 with an Associate’s Degree and 12 ECE credits
- $13.50 with a Bachelor’s Degree and 12 ECE credits
12 credits in ECE AND Have a valid CDA or submit within six (6) months of hire date for CDA, obtaining within one (1) year of hire date AND work towards an Associates Degree in ECE or related field OR have a Bachelor's or Associate's degree and obtain 12 ECE credits within one year of employment.
Have access to reliable, insured transportation.
Provide a TVCCA Staff Statement of Good Health completed within twelve (12) months before the date of employment. Minimum of 18 years of age.
Be able to work 37.5 hours/week, 52 weeks/year, from 7:00AM - 5:00PM to cover center operational hours.
