Job Summary

Do you know we have an award-winning National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accredited Child-Development Center at our main Arapahoe Community College campus in Littleton? 

We are seeking passionate innovative educators to expand and grow an exceptional experience for our youngest learners and ACC teacher candidates. Our Infant Toddler Educators create a nurturing and supportively responsive care environment fostering the cognitive, social-emotional, and physical developmental growth of our youngest learners. They model the implementation of best practices to support the growth trajectory of our ACC Education students and community observers. Our educators actively build relationships and collaborate with our families, students, and school community to ensure a quality experience for all. As a valued team member, our Infant Toddler Educators work collaboratively with leadership, faculty, and colleagues to manage the day-to-day classroom responsibilities and deliver high-engagement instructional designs and embedded learning opportunities for each child. Infant and Toddler Educators are responsible for planning and conducting assessments, and utilizing formative assessment data to create informed, meaningful weekly lesson plans. 

As an Early Childhood Educator you will focus primarily on helping each child grow in unique ways including:

  1. Using play to engage children in learning, fostering and engaging a deep understanding of concepts through hands on experiences.

  2. Nurturing creativity by sparking the child’s imagination through art, music, and movement. 

  1. Creating individualized instruction based on child's interests and needs. 

Characteristics of a strong Early Childhood Educator candidate are: 

Adaptability: being flexible and able to adjust teaching strategies based upon the unique needs of each child. 

Creative: developing weekly lessons that allow children to learn and engage through play. 

Patient: recognizing that each child learns at their own pace and may face different challenges.   

 Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree, or higher, from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, which must include at least two three-semester credit hour courses in Early Childhood Education; one of the courses must either be Intro to ECE or Guidance Strategies, OR
  • Current Early Childhood Professional Credential Level II or higher in Version 3.0, OR
  • Current professional Teaching License issued by the Colorado Department of Education with an endorsement in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or Early Childhood Special Education Specialist.
  • Minimum one year experience in a preschool classroom planning engaging learning experiences.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood methodologies implementing age-appropriate lesson designs to promote physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development. 
  • Working knowledge of Colorado Early Learning & Developmental Guidelines and/or Colorado Academic Standards for Preschool.  
  • Knowledge and ability to implement Colorado Department of Human Services Licensing and Health Regulations for Childcare   
  • Experience utilizing authentic assessment strategies to collect and document growth and development using TSGOLD.  
  • Utilizes formative assessment to drive instruction and intentionally plan integrated lesson designs.  
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Physical & Cognitive Demands

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • This position requires the ability to frequently squat, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist and balance. Hearing and vision are required to supervise and ensure the safety of children by identifying potential dangers and recognizing signs of distress or discomfort. 
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Salary Range 

Salary range for this position is $38,950 - $43,624, commensurate with education and experience. AP 3-45 provides information regarding salary placement and adjustments. This is a full-time, FLSA non-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
