Xavier University’s Division of Student Affairs seeks qualified applicants for the new position of Assistant Director for Student Organizations. This newly created position is a twelve-month, exempt role that is responsible for 160+ registered student organizations, including developing student organization trainings, managing and enforcing student organization-related policies, and developing and distributing resources for student organization support. The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with college students and student events. The ability to problem-solve, manage interruptions, and connect with students and their employee advisors is essential to the position. The role reports to the Senior Associate Director for Student Involvement.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership and direction for registered student organizations with clear policies and procedures for event planning, budget management, travel, reporting and evaluation. 
  • Coordinate student organization leader and advisor trainings, including the annual Student Organization Academy, Student Organization Workshops and Student Organization Leader Training Series.
  • Facilitate and support student organization events such as the annual Club Day and Winter Club Day and provide direct support to student organizations seeking to host larger events, activities, and travel experiences.
  • Provide student supervision for student interns who assist with student organization related programming and support.

The Assistant Director is as a member of the Office of Student Involvement, Gallagher Student Center and Commuter Services team and engages in departmental programming and decision-making. In addition to student organizations, the department facilitates campus activities and leadership programs, oversees new student orientation and transition programs, advises the Student Government Association, manages the Gallagher Student Center, provides programming and support for commuter and off-campus students, and coordinates processes and policies for many available campus resources.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in college student affairs, student development, or related role. Graduate assistantship experience that is directly related to the role can be considered as eligible experience
  • Written and oral communication proficiency
  • Prior experience supervising college-age students
  • Experience with event planning and budget management and policy development
  • Valid driver’s license
