Job Summary:

Reporting to the VP, ACA & Commercial Product Management, Public Plans division, the Product Manager serves as the business lead for ACA product operations and project execution as well as end to end management to bring new products and services to market. The Product Manager plays a key role in the development and execution of strategic initiatives to support market competitiveness and planned growth of WellSense Health Plan’s ACA products. This position will be responsible for leading teams of internal and external business partners (member enrollment, communications, marketing, etc) in support of regulatory deliverables and related program activities. Additionally, the Product Manager will support other major Public Plans’ efforts and projects as needed, ensuring appropriate programmatic alignment across all Medicaid, Medicare, and ACA products.

This position requires a self-starter with deep experience in healthcare, who is comfortable working independently and capable of guiding internal and external stakeholders to complete tasks and deliver successful results. This position will manage and lead intra-departmental teams within a matrixed organization, develop action plans to complete projects, motivate individual subject matter experts to complete tasks, communicate updates throughout all levels of leadership, and utilize PM tools and trackers to organize, prioritize, and communicate roles and responsibilities. The successful candidate must exhibit motivational and disciplined work ethic and have successful experience leading complex projects, setting deadlines, defining and managing roles and responsibilities, tracking and communicating stakeholder performance, and providing/receiving updates and feedback across all levels of the organization.

Key Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible planning and implementation of strategic healthcare efforts throughout the product lifecycle
  • Manages end to end development and implementation of new product releases, continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting workgroups.
  • Successfully manages relationship with all stakeholders, internal and external.
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive project documentation including detailed project plans.
  • Assigns ownership to roles and responsibilities via cross functional stakeholders
  • Measures, tracks and communicates updates on project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Performs risk management reviews and implements risk mitigation plans where necessary
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with third parties/vendors.
  • Accountable for meeting deliverables and deadlines.  
  • Ensures accountability of project teams and team members for executing on existing and new deliverables in line with the product strategy.
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervision Exercised:

  • No direct supervision exercised but will lead teams of internal and external stakeholders and SMEs on project teams and within a matrixed organization

Qualifications:

Education Required:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as business, communications or health care.

Education Preferred:

  • MBA or MHA
  • PMP certification

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5+ years of progressively responsible health plan product management experience or 5+ years combined experience in product and project management in a health plan/healthcare setting.
  • Experience in, or strong knowledge of, the Qualified Health Plan Market

Experience Preferred/Desirable:

  • 3+ years of experience in Qualified Health Plan, Medicaid or Medicare Product Delivery.
  • Keen interest in regulatory review and legislative analysis.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Healthcare Business/Market Development.

Competencies, Skills, and Attributes:  

  • Ability to interact and communicate with partners and stakeholder at all levels, both internally and externally including state and governmental entities
  • Experience leading or collaborating with healthcare payer teams including network management, service operations, legal/regulatory/compliance, actuarial, risk adjustment, clinical management, finance, sales and marketing.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple large-scale healthcare projects from conception to completion, including planning, organizing and prioritizing project objectives and plans successfully.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing project teams of 5+ people.
  • Comfortable working independently and leading/motivating others to complete team goals and meeting deliverables
  • Effective collaborative and proven process improvement skills.
  • Keen attention to detail, excellent proof reading and editing skills.
  • Proficiency using project management and online collaboration tools as well as Microsoft Office products.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the position.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical at home interior/office work environment.
  • No or very limited physical effort required. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
