The School of Health Professions at Shenandoah University, a private, comprehensive university located 70 miles northwest of Washington, D.C., announces an exciting opportunity within the Division of Physical Therapy. This position is a 12-month, full-time appointment located at our Winchester, VA campus beginning August 2020.
The Division of Physical Therapy offers both professional and post-professional programs. The professional program, accredited by CAPTE until 2028, leads to a DPT degree, and is well respected for the integration of current technologies in its patient-centered curriculum. The PT programs are co-located at our Winchester, VA and Scholar Plaza, Loudoun sites.
Shenandoah University has 6 other health professions programs including the Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy, Eleanor Wade Custer School of Nursing, and the School of Health Professions, which also houses Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy, Public Health, and Physician Assistant Studies. The University is committed to the development of inter-professional education and research.
Shenandoah University has collaborative partnerships with Valley Health Systems and lNOVA Health Systems.
Responsibilities include teaching in the entry-level DPT program, performing research, and participating in service activities at the Division, School, and University levels.
- PhD, EdD, DSc or equivalent academic doctoral degree
- Physical Therapist preferred, but not required
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
- Prior didactic teaching experience (preferred)
- Content knowledge in at least one of the following areas (preferred) gait, biomechanics, physical agents, diagnostic imaging, pharmacology and research.
Shenandoah University Division of Physical Therapy has a state of the art 3D motion analysis lab. Experience and/or research background in utilizing 3D motion analysis equipment (Vicon/MotionMonitor/Delsys) is desired.
A commitment to student-centered education, innovative educational models, including interdisciplinary education and hybrid learning technology is desired.
