Visiting Faculty, School of Education - Primary and Middle Childhood Education FT9753

Xavier University invites applications for a Visiting Faculty in the School of Education for the 2024-2025 academic year.  The position involves numerous responsibilities for the Primary and Middle Childhood Education Programs including Educational Foundation courses and reports to the program director. The purpose of this position is to teach a variety of courses in Primary and Middle Childhood Education and or Education Foundations.  In addition, the candidate will support these programs by providing needed services including academic advising, supervision of students in field placements, as well as maintaining and develop relationships with area schools.

The position is renewable annually for up to three years, pending continued need.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities Include:

·      Teaching a variety of courses within the Primary or Middle Childhood Education and Education Foundations undergraduate and graduate programs

·      Collaborating with the Field Coordinator for field experiences for students that may include the preparation of documentation for host schools and supervisors.

·      Maintaining and developing relationships with area schools including public and private schools.

·      Maintaining advisee records and data, assuring that students are meeting program requirements.

·      Reviewing and communicating with program director and administrative staff to ensure all requirements are complete for students in these programs.

Required Qualifications:

·      Master’s degree in Education Required, ABD or Doctorate Preferred

·      Current licensure or the ability to be licensed in Education within the first year of employment: existing Ohio licensure or the ability to transfer license to Ohio from another state

·      Teaching experience in Primary, Middle Childhood, and or Secondary

·      A minimum of 5 years of work experience in education with a minimum of 5 years of classroom experience as the teacher of record

·      Excellent computer skills, including MS Office, Excel, and PowerPoint

·      Excellent organizational skills, especially in managing paper and electronic files

·      Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

·      Ability to work both independently and as part of a team within and among the School of Education.

·      Preference will be given to those who have collegiate teaching experience.
