STGi is accepting resumes for Dietitians interested in providing future services at the VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic.

Clinic operates Monday through Friday with no weekends, holidays or on call required.

Dietitians at VA medical centers perform or supervise others in providing a full range of professional dietetic services in areas of program development and organization, food preparation and service, patient therapy, and education and research. Clinical dieticians perform duties in the areas of medical nutrition and education, and are responsible for clinical nutrition management, quality improvement, and the nutritional phase of medical research studies. VA Dietitians work closely with physicians, nurses, and other allied health personnel to integrate the patient's nutritional care into the total treatment program. The Dietitian's contribution as a team member includes the nutritional assessment of patients and the development of nutritional care plans, nutrition interventions, and individualized nutrition education.

Major Duties:

Incumbent provides nutritional care for patients and provides patient screening and patient education. Develops implements and monitors the nutrition care plan, based on the physician's diet prescription and the Dietitian's nutritional assessment of the patient, participates with the health teams


Required Skills

  • Educate patients on how to select food to maintain and promote health as well as to prevent illness and disease.
  • Plan appropriate diets and menus to meet the needs of individuals whose medical condition can be treated or controlled using diet    therapy.
  • Conduct nutrition education classes.
  • Serve as a community resource to patients.
  • Create in house nutrition education materials for use in nutrition education of staff and patients.
  • Provide information and education to staff members using nutrition education materials, or in- service/meetings per request.
  • Monitor and respond to phone and e-mail messages promptly.
  • Inputs all patients’ information into VISTA/CPRS.
  • Completes any and all clinical reminders “due” at the time of each patient visit.
  • Assists in co-managed care collaboration with non-VA providers, and facilities.
  • Maintains confidentiality of veterans’ data and information.
  • Complies with all VA and company training requirements.
  • Fulfill compliance requirements of the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Joint Commission (JC),
  • Environment of Care (EOC) oversight, lab compliance and other related items.
  • Remain focused on achieving excellent clinical outcomes through the specified VA guidelines.
  • Must provide excellent customer service to each veteran and his/her family, both in person
  • and over the phone, as well as to fellow colleagues and clinic visitors.
  • Participate in the clinic’s outreach events to help support the clinic’s enrollment initiatives.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, or higher, in Nutrition from an accredited school; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Must comply with and maintain all requirements for a valid, unrestricted license in the state of desired
  • employment, or in any U.S. state or territory, depending on VA contractual requirements.
  • Two years’ experience with adult patients preferred. Specific requirements could vary based on individual VA contract.
  • Must be credentialed and remain in good standing through the Veterans Health Administration (VA).
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support through The American Heart Association (must be renewed periodically as
  • specified by the certifying agency – AHA valid for two years, e.g.) and in ACLS as specified by individual VAMC contract
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Strong computer skills, including EMR experience
  • Energetic and optimistic demeanor
  • This is considered a safety sensitive position
