Are you looking for the opportunity of a lifetime? Are you interested in spending next spring or summer at one of the most beautiful sites in America - Yellowstone National Park? STGi is looking to hire a Registered Nurse for the STGi clinics at Yellowstone National Park.  

 

The seasonal Registered Nurse (RN) will work in one of the three medical clinics in Yellowstone National Park.  The clinics are located at Old Faithful, Lake Village, and Mammoth Hot Springs.  Lake and Old Faithful, our seasonal facilities, open in a staggered fashion during April and May and are in operation until mid to late October each year, depending on the clinic.  The Old Faithful and Lake Village facilities provide urgent and emergency care as well as some primary care for Park residents and employees.  A wide age range of patients with diverse injuries and illnesses are seen.  Limited point-of-service lab and x-ray are available at all three facilities. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Clinical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completes triage and initial data collection on all incoming patients. Obtains objective and subjective data through history taking, physical exam and review of records.
  • Assesses the patient's physical and mental condition in an ongoing manner to establish and track baseline status for deviations.
  • Documents the above assessments and reassessments on documentation tools provided.
  • Utilizes electronic health records (EHR) as outlined clinically and clerically.
  • Provides pertinent patient transfer note and associated paperwork with assessment of current status, complications and a comprehensive note of changing status of patient response, when necessary.
  • Maintains flexibility to reassess and prioritize based on incoming patients, change in acuity, and fluctuations in environmental conditions.
  • Provides care for patients with emergent, non-emergent, and psychosocial problems.
  • Administers proper medications by all routes.
  • Performs physical examinations and treat patients enroute to hospitals or at disaster site triage centers.
  • Takes and interprets ECG, administers and maintains sedation.
  • Responds to remote locations for treatment of patients, lifts and moves patients, secures patients for transport, and transfers patients to medical facilities.

 

Radiological Responsibilities:

  • Provides basic radiological studies. Utilizes continuing educational opportunities to enhance and refine skills.
  • Collaborates with the APC to take a radiological film.
  • Maintains processor and associated equipment according to procedure and notifies service company and/or Clinic Administrator with any malfunctions or questions.
  • Maintains filing system according to HIPPA procedures.

 

Technical and Business Functions

  • Verifies registration information via copy of insurance card and personal interview, asking patient or family member to complete registration information.
  • Interviews patients or family members regarding finances on payment expectation.
  • Inputs all insurance/collections activity to established guidelines.
  • Sets up acceptable patient payment arrangements, when requested, in a courteous and efficient manner, utilizing credit card or personal check verification services.
  • Interacts with all patients in a courteous and helpful manner in person or on the phone. Attempts to resolve questions and refers to the Charge Nurse or Clinic Manager as appropriate.
  • Identifies and eliminates equipment need- problems, i.e., IV pumps, oxygen tanks. Ensures the equipment necessary for delivering emergency care is readily available and in working order.
  • Performs point of service laboratory testing, including shipping of specimens, in compliance with procedures and maintains QI as appropriate.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum of one year experience in an Emergency Department or ICU or applicable experience.
  • Proficient with electronic medical records and digital radiography.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general medical information, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulatory information.
  • Ability to solve detailed and high-level practical problems and respond to a variety of situations when limited or no standardization is present.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled formats.
  • Writes reports, communicates in a professional format, provides business related correspondence, and develops procedural driven instructions and manuals.
  • Possesses mastery of business and medical terminology.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • US Citizen.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

 

REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Have valid unrestricted Wyoming state licensure or have an RN license in a state which is defined as a compact state.
  • Current ACLS & BLS certification.
  • TNCC preferred
  • PALS (or equivalent) preferred

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle and feel, reach with arms, grip and grasp, speak and hear.
  • Frequently stands for long periods of time and will occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend over 90 degrees, use ladders, use stairs, reach overhead, have outstretched arms, lay prone, and/or maneuver in tight spaces.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception required. Vision correction is acceptable.
  • May be required to lift, carry, push, pull, operate, and manipulate a patient gurney in outdoor environments.
  • Generally, work will be performed inside Clinic buildings in Yellowstone National Park, providing medical care to patients who present with a variety of conditions and medical complaints.
  • May be exposed to periods of emergencies and high activity.
  • Be available on-call for after-hours patients on a rotational basis as outlined by operational needs.
  • Potential need to travel from one clinic to another.
  • Travel to another clinic for orientation, depending on location.
