The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner will assist in providing all aspects of clinical services to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

 

The Bullfrog Medical Clinic at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in Lake Powell functions as a primary care home for residents in the area, patrons of Lake Powell and concessioners operating in the park. During the summer season, a Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner is hired to staff the clinic along with last year or residency students and a front desk staff member. The Bullfrog Medical Clinic is primarily a seasonal clinic open from April-October. The Off-season is From October-April and consists of a minimum one day a week operation. Employees of STGi Health will have an opportunity to work at various park sites or on other contracts. A wide age range of patients with diverse injuries and illnesses are seen. Limited point-of service lab and x-ray are available.

 

The National Park Service provides EMS services. An STGi Health physician team comprised of the Yellowstone National Park Medical Director, STGi Health’s Medical Director, and a contracted physician provides consultation and oversight.

 

Service Operations

  • Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.
  • Administers medications to patients and monitors patients for reactions or side effects.
  • Records patients' medical information and vital signs.
  • Monitors, records, and reports symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
  • Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
  • Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
  • Directs or supervises less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervises a particular group/clinic.
  • Prepares patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
  • Instructs individuals, families, or other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention, or childbirth and develop health improvement programs.
  • Assesses the needs of individuals, families, or communities, including assessment of individuals' home or work environments, to identify potential health or safety problems.
  • Prepares rooms, sterilizes instruments, equipment, or supplies and ensures that stock of supplies is maintained.
  • Refers students or patients to specialized health resources or community agencies furnishing assistance.
  • Consults with institutions or associations regarding issues or concerns relevant to the practice and profession of nursing.
  • Informs physician of patient's condition during anesthesia.
  • Administers local, inhalation, intravenous, or other anesthetics.
  • Provides health care, first aid, immunizations, or assistance in convalescence or rehabilitation in locations such as schools, hospitals, or industry.
  • Conducts specified laboratory tests.
  • Directs or coordinates infection control programs, advising or consulting with specified personnel about necessary precautions.
  • Prescribes or recommends drugs, medical devices, or other forms of treatment, such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.
  • Performs physical examinations and treat patients enroute to hospitals or at disaster site triage centers.
  • Provides or arranges for training or instruction of auxiliary personnel or students.
  • Works with individuals, groups, or families to plan or implement programs designed to improve the overall health of communities.

 

Technology

  • Attends training on IT systems, both initially and with updates; asks for help when needed.
  • Completes mandatory IT training by specified deadlines.
  • Inform supervisor of IT and other equipment needs, particularly those that prevent completing projects within specified deadlines.

 

Customer Service

  • Manages customer/agency complaints professionally with feedback within 48 hours of receipt. Determines whether upper management involvement needed during any point of process and refer in 24 hours.
  • Responds to customer complaints, issues, and requests regarding STGi Health LLC services within 24 hours. Follows outstanding issues to resolution in a timely manner. Escalates issues as appropriate and directed by supervisor.

Required Skills

  • Must be highly organized.
  • Must be able to assign tasks and delegate work efficiently.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Appropriately escalates problems or resource issues for resolution.
  • Develops/maintains effective procedures for communicating with staff.
  • Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

 

WWORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Required to walk unaided at a normal pace for up to 10 minutes and maintain balance.
  • Ability to respond to any medical emergency within the clinic and surrounding areas, where a fast walk or jog may be necessary to provide assistance.
  • Required to perform CPR/emergency care standing or kneeling.
  • Must have the ability to assist sick, injured or aging individuals exiting the area during an emergency (may require lifting, dragging, wheeling or carrying someone who weights significantly more than self).
  • Must be ablet o see, hear and smell with or without the use of aides if necessary (exceptions on a case-by-case basis).
  • Must easily alternate between kneeling and standing.
  • Must be able to lift, push or carry a minimum of 30 pounds.
  • Must perform the duties in a rural and stressful environment without physical limitations.
  • Must be capable of standing on hard surfaces for long periods of time.

Required Experience

Required Education

  • Have valid unrestricted state licensure in Utah.
  • Have current ACLS and BLS certifications. PALS and TNCC preferred.
