The Workforce Development Specialist (WDS) within the Global Industry Solutions (GIS) group acts as the subject matter expert (SME) for Mitsubishi Electric Automation’s Workforce Development program and aims to establish meaningful partnerships with educational institutions throughout North America. The purpose of forming Educational Partnerships is to broaden Mitsubishi Electric’s footprint by placing our products and solutions into the programs at these institutions, improve brand recognition by exposing the future generation of workers (current students) to Mitsubishi Electric products, and support our core customers and their training and hiring needs by partnering with schools in their area.

 

The WDS will develop and coordinate all activities of Mitsubishi Electric Automation’s Workforce Development program including the addition of new Educational Partners, participating in marketing campaigns, collaborating cross-functionally to build awareness, and traveling to schools to promote our program. The WDS will establish a sustainable presence of Mitsubishi Electric CNCs, Robots, PLCs, and other Industrial Automation equipment throughout North America by establishing new partnerships with Colleges, Universities, High Schools, Training Associations, STEM organizations, and other outlets.

 

The WDS will exhibit and promote demo equipment to expose future customers, students, partners, and non-traditional clients to the Mitsubishi Electric brand. The WDS will participate in trade shows, exhibit in local and national school events and contests, and develop promotional activities with strategic partners and manufacturing organizations.

 

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Establish and support a comprehensive network of Educational Partners that includes Colleges, Universities, High Schools, Training Associations, Manufacturing Organizations, Training Centers, and other outlets throughout North America

· Successfully build relationships, perform proper discovery, advocate products and solutions, and provide support for targeted Educational Partners in an effort to achieve the broader business development goals for Mitsubishi Electric Automation

· Develop a strategic territory coverage plan based on the location of existing Mitsubishi Electric customers and target schools in the area

· Make recommendations, quote educational products, and offer educational resources to target schools

· Travel extensively to set up new Educational Partners geographically located near existing and target key accounts

· Execute new Educational Partner agreements for target schools

· Manage relationships with existing Educational Partners by providing dedicated support and guidance as it relates to our products and services

· Serve as the main point of contact for all Workforce Development program activities and incoming requests

· Support all trade show activities related to our Workforce Development program

· Handle regular and recurring communication with Educational Partners, target accounts, and inbound leads

· Become an expert on the topic of labor shortages in the manufacturing industry and be able to articulate the importance of manufacturing career pathways to help solve this problem for our core customers

· Be an advocate for manufacturing career pathways and spread awareness to students and incumbent workers

· Promote Mitsubishi Electric’s educational equipment to Colleges, Universities, High Schools, Training Associations, and other target outlets

- Ensure that the equipment is integrated as an active part of the school’s curriculum and lesson plans

- Offer educational resources such as curriculum and certifications to enhance these programs

· Document activities in CRM and provide timely reports

· Provide monthly and annual business plan

Travel Requirements

· 25+% travel based on customer demand, primarily throughout North America.

 

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

· Pursuing Bachelor of Science Degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent work experience

· Knowledge/Interest in CNC, Robot, and other Industrial Automation equipment

· Experience collaborating with institutions of higher education

· Strong verbal and written communication skills with customers, colleagues, and outside vendors

· Computer proficiency – knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)

· Knowledge of how to create and maintain reports in Excel

· Dynamic and customer-focused attitude

 

BENEFICIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

· Experience in generating revenue and increasing market share

· Experience working in a manufacturing environment

· Knowledge of Salesforce

· Experience in building partnerships and coalitions

· Experience navigating government contracts and purchasing protocols

 

PHYSICAL, ENVIRONMENTAL, COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

· Must be physically able to travel, including the ability to:

- Sit for extended periods of time for the purposes of travel

- Operate a motor vehicle for both short and long distances

- Fly via commercial flights, both nationally and internationally as needed

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently for activities such as moving demo equipment to and from events

· Ability to move about the MEAU plant and other facilities with or without a reasonable accommodation

· Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn and master the use of MEAU products

· Ability to actively prioritize tasks with limited direction

· Flexible work style with the ability to navigate changing priorities
